No apologies necessary mordwyr. We can all be a-holes now and then. As long as we admit to it.
I can definitely understand that point as well. If you truly feel they are who you want to be with, by all means. Like I said, I respect those that can go through it, I just never saw a reason to do it. You can call someone your wife and be married without it really being considered a marriage. But that's just me.

I'm fortunate that through thick and thin, good times and bad, we managed to stay together. This past Saturday was our 33rd Anniversary. If we can make it to 2033 we'll celebrate our 50th (knock on wood).

So, I'm all for talking to fellow Christians in this thread. Let's have this thread be a place for Christians to discuss.
You're wrong. Jesus doesn't sneak. He politely knocks, it's up to you to let Him in.

New discussion topic: Why is the Pope-Mobile so much less cool than the Bat-Mobile?

That's admirable above anything else and you guys do seem happy so kudos to you. I grew up with parents that always seemed to go off on each other so my mindset kind of stems from that. I know I should have my own perspective on it but people say you gain a lot of your perspective on life at an early age with how people treat each other.

And just so we're still on topic, religion has nothing to do with my parents.

The Batmobile is fantasy, nothing on it would function the way it is depicted as in the movies. So it could look any way the designer wants. The Pope-Mobile is practical, there are no bells and whistles like the Batmobile has to make it look cool. it is what it is, a Fiat or whatever car model it is now.

What God wants God gets God help us all
What God wants God gets
The kid in the corner looked at the priest
And fingered his pale blue Japanese guitar
The priest said
God wants goodness
God wants light
God wants mayhem
God wants a clean fight
What God wants God gets
Don't look so surprised
It's only dogma
The alien prophet cried
The beetle and the springbok
Took the bible from its hook
The monkey in the corner
Wrote the lesson in his book
What God wants God gets God help us all
God wants peace
God wants war
God wants famine
God wants chain stories
What God wants God gets
God wants sedition
God wants sex
God wants freedom
God wants semtex
What God wants God gets
Don't look so surprised
I'm only joking
The alien comic cried
The jackass and hyena
Took the feather from its book
The monkey in the corner
Wrote the joke down his book
What God wants God gets
God wants boarders
God wants crack
God wants rainfall
God wants wetbacks
What God wants God gets
God wants voodoo
God wants shrines
God wants law
God wants organised crime
God wants crusade
God wants jihad
God wants good
God wants bad
What God wants God gets

- Roger Waters
In the old testament, God pretty much got whatever he wanted. He parted seas, brought about plagues, turned people into salt, spoke through burning bushes, and drowned the planet. In the new testament he took more of a back seat, yet promised to rain hell fire upon the world at some point in the future. In the multitude of centuries since these texts were written down by over 40 different men, over the course of thousands of years, God's gone AWOL except on an individual person scale to those who've "seen the light".

What happened to all of the epic grandeur?

Where was God on 12/26/2004? Or 1/12/2010? Or 3/11/2011?

In ancient history God was this:

In modern times God's been reduced to this:

Did God decide to become shy once technology could actually record events in real time?

This guy had it nailed hundreds of years before Jesus was even born.

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

It's the whole standing thing. If Batman stood up and waved to people while Robin drove, it would be a lot less cool.

Why not ask him yourself?
