Something tells me you either went into the worst neighborhood in history or there's more to the story than just a cross.

I was walking down the street with my hair covered out of respect fully clothed with a female friend and I tripped my cross fell outta my shirt and a gaggle of kids saw it and proceeded to chase us 3 city blocks pelting us with rocks until an older man came outside and and said what are you doing we dont do this to people. Yea. I bought the thing in italy when renewing my visa to go back to Morocco....because it was pretty. Nope thats it.

I didn't expect to have that in common with you, Roxy! I have also spent time in Morocco, bussing down from Tangier to Casablanca and Fez, but mainly staying in this area:-

We rented a room in Mogador, now sadly renamed Essouaria, and at our most adventurous, stayed a week in the small village of Amizmiz (see southern tip of black line).

I wonder where you were ?

thats weird

most of moroccans i know don't even wear hijab

you don't have to cover up in morocco and they certainly wouldn't stone you for wearing a cross

that is really strange. but i don't know fez. i've been to marrakesh and yeah like i said there are a lot of tourists there and you don't have to cover up and wearing a cross wouldn't be a problem?

^ This is all true. Morocco is one of the most tolerant and Westernized of the Arab countries.

@ Roxy: We were in Fez (old town) for a few days, but kept getting lost in all those alleyways, so we moved on, looking for somewhere quieter.

Meanwhile, back on topic, here's a decent song by an avowedly Christian band:-

On time I was waiting for a realtor outside an apartment building in Chicago and these kids threw rocks at me so I yelled at them and they ran away. I think I was probably being persecuted.

You're correct its a very liberal arab country. However I lived there and when in rome....I made the personal choice to do that. Out of respect, as well as participate in Ramadan etc. My exstendes family is still there and are Moroccan and you know liberal or not in muslim and arab culture we dont bring shame on the family.
