Not to bring up a dead topic, but my friend pointed out to me something ironic about the idea of liberals letting corporations take advantage of illegal immigrants for cheaper products. "I didn't know liberals supported corporate extortion, I thought that was a conservative thing." You know, that argument really does remind me of trickle down economics.

I always saw (and used) that side of the argument as putting the blame of problems that are commonly pinned on immigrants as more the fault of allowing corporations to take advantage of people than anything that the immigrants themselves are perpetuating.

I think the impact people pin on illegal immigration actually comes from out sourcing. There are plenty of call center companies that will have their full staff train people from other countries just to have those people replace them. Both combined has probably had a significant impact on the amount of jobs left for Americans. I don't have the statistics for either.
