Or would you rather I just have science prove itself wrong, as it's intended to do?
TRAPPIST-1: System with 7 Earth-Size Exoplanets

We studied all of the objects in our solar system and Europa is the only thing that shows hope.

And dude, Pluto is 4.7 billion miles from earth.

7 light years is 40,000,000 billion miles away.

Put down your crack pipe.

So...not even gonna try to even refute the substance of my post?

Chula Vista 02-28-2017 07:21 PM

Tell you what, I'll make your face feel so much better by kicking you in the nuts. See how that works?

What substance?

Not sure why you are talking about the human race - are you assuming that Russia, China, Europe, and the rich Arabs nations are going to start writing checks to fund the US so they can once again stare at the stars?

This is all about Trump wanting to spend trillions of dollars that this country doesn't have unless they gut the **** out of a lot of essential stuff.

I mean he's already gutting environmental stuff so that he can dump another $56 billion into our military so they can buy another 10,000 or so $200 toilet seats.

If you're asking whether or not I agree with Trump's ideas about our budget then obviously not. I'd be all for cutting from the defense budget to pay for our space program, but I'll take what I'm given if it's all I'll get. I'd certainly see the arts, national parks, and education as contributing to our culture at least as much as space exploration, so I'm not averse to concentrating on those first since they would provide more immediate and needed benefits, and space is a long-term goal that can wait a bit, but I'm definitely not for abandoning the idea or treating it as inconsequential.

To be honest I find your attitude on this subject pretty naive and detached from whats currently going on in our country.
I find your entire political attitude to be blinded by anti-right contrarianism that's based in the same us vs. them mentality as the people you rail against. You sound just like my right wing family with their anti-Obama memes and one-sided logic. So you calling me naive and detached is highly ironic.

We haven't really studied anything enough to definitively say what can be gained from them since we've only ever gone to the moon, so your assertion that the issue is somehow settled shows a severe lack of imagination. Not surprising from someone who thinks Van Halen had anything to do with punk.

Funny, I thought we were talking about space exploration and how to fund it, and not politics. Pay attention.

Considering this all started with Trump talking about space exploration, and one of your latest posts brought him back up, then I'd say your political bias is loud and clear and therefore relevant.

This makes your side of the argument look really good.

The part where the universe is massive and has plenty of potential for life and offers a lot of knowledge to us. You falsely assume that there's nothing more to find because "science". Talk about irony if you're still trying to maintain a scientific mindset while mindlessly writing off new evidence though. Top kek.
