Trump loses-->brownshirts reacting-->conditions being too unstable to transition office

Don't know if it'll be like that, but I'm not sure what's probable anymore.

He might litigate the results, but if it's found that Trump has legitimately lost, do you seriously think he's going to hole up in the Oval Office? Or try to secede part of the country off with him as President (igniting a civil war)?

There's a lot of fear mongering going around these days.

Of course that's what he and his administration says. Why would he not leave that option open? If the election results come in and there is serious evidence of fraud, should he just accept the results anyway?

He's not going to make himself President for life if he legitimately loses.

Frownland 08-29-2020 01:50 PM

Fingers crossed but I wouldn't put money on that.

debaserr 08-29-2020 01:50 PM

Have you been paying attention?

Anteater 08-29-2020 01:52 PM

He was saying stuff like that even before he won in 2016. If he loses in 2020 and for whatever reason doesn't leave, they'll use force to pull his ass out of the office.

Exactly. It would be bad enough for Trump's image to lose - but it would tarnish his entire legacy if he were to make a scene and he had to be forcefully removed from office. He cares too much about his image to do that. These fantasies of Trump becoming a dictator or refusing to leave office are nothing but poorly thought out material to give liberals scary nightmares. People need to take a chill pill.

Plus, Trump's going to win anyway, so you don't even have to worry about what he would do if he loses.

The Batlord 08-29-2020 02:11 PM

I don't think he's smart enough to orchestrate a coup and I don't think he wants all of that responsibility in perpetuity, but I think him losing an election when one term presidents are generally considered the loser presidents might make him throw a tantrum until he got his way somehow. I don't realistically see that going anywhere but the ultimate embarrassment of him being dragged out of the White House but if the Senate is willing to go along with it to avoid embarrassing the party by pretending there's nothing to be embarrassed about cause Trump is totally just standing up for himself in the face of a stolen election then who the **** knows how long that could drag out.

I'm honestly not super worried about it but this has all been just so, so stupid already that sometimes I can't help but think that the only smart prediction is that it will go full retard.

Lucem Ferre 08-29-2020 02:11 PM

He's been setting it up to deny the results.

It won't be him accepting a loss but refusing to leave. It'll be him making excuses and shoving fear down people's throats to deny reality. It's not like he hasn't already been doing this. The Republican party will stand behind this delusion.

I absolutely believe a civil war could happen if he loses. I believe one could happen if he wins. I believe one could happen if he suddenly got a heart attack and died and Mike beat Biden. What about this past year makes you think Trump or Americans think or act like rational human beings?

It’s not fear mongering. He’s already saying he can’t lose unless it’s rigged. So when/if he loses he’s obviously going to say it was rigged. So half the country is contesting the election and America becomes Balkanized depending on who you think is supposed to be giving the orders. And the new civil war isn’t going to be states vs states or sections vs sections it’s going to be a cluster**** of arson vandalism shootings and other forms of violence like Syria. In fact, it seems to have already started.
