But Ann Coulter definitely campaigned hard for trump on the idea that the Democrats are basically using immigrants to change the demographics so it's more favorable to Democrats. Which supposedly goes back to some 1965 legislation that made it so immigration wasn't just from white countries or whatever....

It's the same level of intellectualism that leads to "You can't spell 'crap' without 'rap'". The reasoning is fuzzy and flexible enough that your average, non-bat**** Republican can think that illegals are invading the country to take it over and/or the Democrats are secret communists who hate this country and want to destroy it and turn it into a vague Stalinist boogeyman, but you can probably argue them down to the Democrats just want enough illegals to take Texas so they can raise everyone's taxes or whatever.

And then as soon as you leave the room they go right back to believing crazy **** without any ill effects to their cognitive dissonance. And again I'm not talking about Qanon psychos, I'm talking normal conservatives. It doesn't have to make sense, it just has to give them a satisfying narrative.

The problem with this is that, increasingly, Hispanic people consider themselves white, and will be counted as white to maintain hegemony. This is not unprecedented in US History. In the early part of the 20th Century, USSJC cases were held about "who gets to be white." During that time, Cubans were extended "Whitehood" because of Cuba's history as a slave-holding nation. [It's a fact they were given white status, I can't prove it was because of Cuba's slave-holding legacy, but from everything I've read that is almost certain the reason.]

Also, look at who counted as white in various racist locations. In the U.S. where Whiteness was a given majority, any drop of non-black white blood meant "not white." But in regions where Whiteness was a minority, just as the British Caribbean, or South Africa a white parent meant you were included in the ruling class. Hispanics in the United States will be no different. It's already occurring.

Yeah, I think that really is the American way. In the US Caste system, you can rob the 3rd and 4th tier castes blind so long as there is a 5th caste. And their the ones - the lower classes - that fight to keep the system in place.
