What I mean is in the mars / venus one, the choice is to draw a line following the exact middle of the "elastic" band between the planets. This is an arbitrary artistic choice and not something that actually happens in nature.

You could change this choice (ex. away from the middle) and you would get a different pattern. So, there's more or less an infinite amount of possible patterns and this is just one of them.

Is this one more real than any of the other potential ones? To me it's just man made art.

Yeah Guybrush is right. You'll get a beautiful pattern whatever kind of orbit you choose, but it has no physical significance, and also the orbits drawn are artificial.

The only cool thing that can happen between planetary orbits, afaik, is resonance: the period of one object's orbit is a neat fraction of another's. For instance, one planet's orbit could be exactly twice of another's. That doesn't happen between earth and venus though, it's mostly a thing of planetary moons.
