Urban Hatemonger:
I got mad at Urban around a year ago when he closed my thread on Prince, although he was correct and only doing his job as a moderator, I also took one of his recent posts out of text, I think that he was referring to a statement I made concerning Marc Bolan/T.Rex, (Sorry Urban)! :o:
What I always admired about Urban is, he is very direct and goes strait to the point and never pulls any punches, and he will delete your ass real quick! :nono:

Right Track:
This is someone that I would like to meet in person, RT is also vey direct, I miss him around as a moderator, it seemed like he posted alot more then.
Oh well, I still bug the hell out of him anyway, moderator or not!

Vegangelica:
Erica is not only a good friend, but she is always kind and considerate.
I see a natural ability she has to "inspire other people", that's a great attribute to posses.

Mr. Dave:
This guy can give you solid advice and an opinion concerning just about any subject that comes his way, what I admire about Dave is he is usually looking at the exact opposite, as to where I am looking, (wanky as that sounds).
He always see's the other things (concerning whatever the subject) that I always seem to miss or ignore, and thats a positive.

Duga:
Seems like the kind of person that knows what he's talking about before he say's it, has some great reviews, Ive read most of them already.

I usually dont post on these type of threads, but what the Hell!
Theres just to many people to do them all, besides I like everyone anyway.

thanks  though i prefer the term 'providing alternate perspectives' hehehe i quite enjoy our discussions as well (even if i do end up razzing you for your sometimes disconnected wiki-esque writing style hehe)

besides, anyone who digs on funk is cool in my book.

Ooo! This is almost poetic, right-track. I see you managed to stop choking on your e-words and cough up something almost good about me. ;) But tsk tsk tsk! Scolds Bridal should be spelled "Scold's Bridle." For SHAME!!

Right-track: I have charged him in the past (and I feel correctly so) with being hypocritical, and he isn't always exactly cuddly on the boards, though he can be very helpful. And yet, and yet...despite these issues that make me have to work to like him sometimes, I do. I like it that he argues and speaks his mind, even if I think he's bloody wrong sometimes for choosing to do what he does.

I suppose the nicest thing I could say about right-track is that, though we don't see eye to eye on everything, I still feel trust in him. Also, next to Urban he's the person on MB I'd most like to wrestle with as a way of resolving arguments. :D I like to imagine I'd win, too.

Right-track's presence on MB lets me practice being tough and even more outspoken than I might normally be. Since I like feeling strong, I appreciate him badgering me with his creative tirades that never fail to make me laugh. I also like learning about music from him. Amazing, I know. We've actually managed to talk a little about music over the last year! ;)

I'll just start posting self pics in lieu of musical opinions, then :p:

I think I'll wait a bit more to make a substantial post in this thread. I hate passing snap judgements that turn out to be completely (or even partially) incorrect as time passes.

Dayvan Cowboy 09-02-2010 06:26 PM

Eh, why not?

Keith!: this guy is just epic. A fellow Panda Bro/Anco fan, who I must say should be given an award or something. Also, Alfred told me that you said "Sunn O))) sounds like my refrigerator" and I instantly thought you were one of the best MB posters. I wish I knew him more...

OctaneHugo: I used to think this guy was an idiot but he's actually pretty cool. It just takes a while to get used to him.

+81: I don't know much about this guy, but to me he seems pretty cool. He always has the best discussions in the shoutbox.

CanwllCorfe: How the hell does this guy find all of those great electronic acts? I'm personally jealous of his band-finding skills.

Dr. Seussicide: He is the Emo of MB, famous for liking all things depressing. At first, I thought he was a little cold, but now he's come to one of the people I'm close to on MB. I think he gives out some pretty epic recommendations.

mr. dave: At first, I didn't like this guy because he didn't like me.. Now, I realize that he has the right to be mad at me, because I can be a little annoying sometimes. We share some pretty cool common artists, though.

VEGANGELICA: this person is the sweetest poster on MB, I wish we talked more often, though. she seems to understand everyone and is quite informed

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN: I'm digging the Comic Sans, dude.
The next WendyCal?

rockguitar101: I wish he still posted here; he seems like the most hilarious thing ever. I'm loving the obvious photoshop jobs and the extremely amateur music :D

I'll do more later.

OctaneHugo - probably my least favorite member. he usually explains himself poorly then proceeds to berate whomever he disagrees with.

VEGANGELICA - tl;dr. always thoughtful and cheery. one of my favorite posters.

TheCunningStunt - advocate of awful avatars. tends to get into dumb arguments. seems unfastidious to a fault. annoying. and he hates prog.

Hahaa thanks! :D But trust me it's not easy. Lots of time spent on YouTube and Google to find it all. And it's a never ending quest! I'm stocking up on Modern Classical for the winter. I don't know if it's common to only wanna listen to certain genres in certain seasons.. but I just love club oriented music in the warmer months and all my classical and ambient/jazzy stuff in the colder months. It just works.

In the past I was a moderator and at the same time a member.
If I appeared hypocritical it was probably because I had the mod hat on and the contrast would have been the posts made as a member...non of which were worthy of an infraction, or a ban.
As for not being "cuddly", then that would be because I was dealing with a member who wasn't exactly "cuddly" to begin with.
I argue less than you imagine. In fact I'd say I don't argue at all.
If you've seen me in a conflict with another member, then it would be as a mod dealing with someone who was abusing their right to be here.
I never chose to do what I did. Like the other mods, I was chosen to do it.
And I happen to think I did a good job.

And I'm NEVER bloody wrong!

NSW 09-03-2010 04:40 PM

that's fair, if i come across as harsh it's because i see potential that is being ignored. your attitude and tastes line up quite closely to a good friend of mine from our college days back in the 'chi. i've had to be harsh on him in the past too for his attitude towards personal tastes and preferences as well ;)

besides, you like BoC and Amon Tobin. there is no wrong to be righted here.

right-track was one of the first people who welcomed me when I first joined, and even if it was nothing extraordinary, it made me feel accepted in a way. I thank him for that.

I can't say I know too much about his actions as a mod, but he seemed like he kept it all together, was pretty much addicted to keeping this place in order and still continued posting and having a laugh with the other members like a true regular.

WWWP 09-09-2010 10:57 PM

Right-Track was one of the first to welcome me as well. He's probably one of the most genuine, sincere and witty people I've ever met (closely followed by Jackhammer). Oh, and he introduced me to WinRar which is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me so I am forever indebted. There's a reason he's called the Modfather. :D

Nope, whilst I appreciate good feedback I am just doing my mod job and trying to gee up things.

Oh you.

Just take the compliment.

Stop being modest.

I for one enjoy the bitchiness. Top top modding.

duga 11-16-2010 08:07 PM

OctaneHugo: Has major issues with informing everyone of album names. Did he get beat as a small child when he got the names of his dad's records wrong? Or does he just like to really frustrate people to the point where they wish they could actually send a fist through the internet?

sidewinder: My man. I have the best mini discussions with this guy...he never forgets when we are in the middle of a topic and always replies promptly. He also knows what he likes and even if he disagrees with me, it is always in a completely civil way. I don't know how you can get mad at him. Not to mention his taste in music is awesome.

That is all for now.

Freebase Dali 11-16-2010 11:07 PM

I both agree with, and endorse, the above post.

Here's some from me:

TheCunningStunt

I go through periods of like and dislike with this one. Sometimes you see him destroying intro threads with wanton abandon, and then he'll simmer down and you'll forget all about it, and then you'll notice his post count jump a thousand posts and investigate and realize a majority of those posts are short, almost irrelevant responses that result in a sort of off-topic conversation that isn't quite off topic, but doesn't require much thought or input either. But then other times, he provides some good entertainment as he seems to be witty for his age. He also indelibly creates a plethora of general discussion threads that everyone seems to enjoy, and regardless of how ridiculous each topic may seem on its own, the effect of community discussion and connection ends up weighing more. Overall, as much as I don't like to admit it, this guy has a good effect on the offtopic aspect of this website. I think his value lies mostly there. I don't consider that a bad thing either. I'm pretty much the same way, as I have a lot more to offer in that realm. This mode offers a balance to discussion that I think is necessary in any topic-related forum. I couldn't hate that aspect about TheCunningStunt, nor any others, without being hypocritical.

Duga
I've always liked this one. Scientifically and logically minded, not given to knee jerk emotional responses, thinks before he expresses. I could learn a thing or two from him and others here who operate on that same level. Tore especially. I see both of them in the same light.
When Duga got modded, I knew MB was getting more of the balance it needed. Duga and Tore both have a way of looking at things that really equalizes issues without creating any sort of discord, and although I'm not saying the other mods and myself don't have the ability, it just seems, to me, it's less of a natural thing to occur on a regular basis. But I think the styles generally work together as a fluid mosaic of interoperability and Duga fits the bill perfectly for how things are laid out now. Looking back at the other options at the time, I don't think there would have been a better decision for the position.

Pedestrian
Very interesting girl. Intelligent, and skilled at things artistic. I mostly agree with her philosophies from what I've read and think she's a cool cat.

Dayvan Cowboy
Easily the brightest 14(?) year old I've ever seen type on an internet. She has great taste in music and the mannerisms of an adult in a lot of cases. She has some self-confidence issues, but who doesn't at that age? I predict that by the time she's 25, she'll be a significant force in some way or another. I don't know if I can attribute it to technology and ease of information or whatever, but if I had been as well connected with things as she is when I was that age, I'd probably have a far different/better life than I do now.

I guess that's all for now.

Sansa Stark 11-17-2010 08:04 AM

One from me too I guess:

Dayvan: Dayvan kind of gets on my nerves sometimes and I feel she has a serious need to belong, but sometimes I think she's okay. I think she's slightly afraid of me, but I mean no harm, honestly. She worries too much about what other people think of her.

Dirty: Honestly, I think he thinks i have some sort of weird obsession with him because I always take a snipe at him, but I'm an ******* to everyone who is needlessly rude and chooses to remain ignorant.

Satch: A great person all around, a very good friend. I used to think he teased me because he didn't like me but I find that's not the case. Always there when I need him and a great listener. Oh, and an excellent writer.

Engine: Excellent taste in books, always good for conversation

Pedestrian: Sweet girl, always fun to talk to

Jansz: Always fair and an excellent sense of humor.

Big3: Always reminds me of a really intense teacher-type person who'll yell a lot in a lecture and kick you out of his class if you don't know the answer. "GET THE **** OUT OF MY CLASS"

that's all I can do right now, I gotta get to class

Thank you. I love your writing too, and I love sharing the same cracked kaleidoscopic lens on the world that motivates us both to spill. I'm very honored to be your friend.

Dirty 11-17-2010 12:42 PM

Paloma - quick to throw 'ignorance' claims at me, never specific about what exactly I am supposedly ignorant about. Also calls me 'bro' for no reason, seems to not be on par with maturity for her age. People who disagree automatically labelled 'rude' and ignorant.

Conan - seems like a cool dude, glad there's someone else here who raps and makes music.

vegangelica - I disagree with most of what she says, but she seems very smart and always backs up what she has to say on issues.

Dayvan Cowboy 11-17-2010 02:20 PM

har har har har, it's update time!

clutnuckle: The member I relate to the most. He has one of the most superb tastes and I wish I could just steal his computer for a while and listen to all of his music collection

Kaimon: You need to post more often. You're easily one of my favourite members and you seem like you'd be a cool person IRL.

duga: You're probably my favourite mod, even though we disagree musically most of the time.

Paloma: I'd say something but stuff would ensue.

RavenRAWRRR: I swear to god that you're just emostreetguitar minus the "ATTENTION SEEK LOLALERT" factor. Honestly.

Pedestrian: This person just joined recently? I feel as if she's been here for years, and there's no way that you just joined in september. Honestly, wow.

crash_override: lol, you like Attack Attack

PAVEMENT SAW: lololol you're priceless.

Dirty: I have mixed opinions on him. Sometimes he's alright but at times he's a little grating.

Violent & Funky 11-17-2010 03:10 PM

Dirty: he doesn't really seem to fit in, which makes him cool in my book.

someonecompletelyrandom 11-17-2010 03:13 PM

Conan: egocentric, maniacal bastard.

Arya Stark 11-17-2010 03:23 PM

Dayvan Cowboy
I don't really know much about you but it seems like you really like attention. Maybe it's just me, and maybe I haven't taken the time out of my day to talk to you enough, but I feel like you try really hard not to be mainstream or something like that.
Pedestrian
I think you're really cool. I agree with a lot of the things you say and you hold amazing conversations. I definitely want to know more about you, let's be friends.
Kaimon
I don't know much about you either but you remind me of friends I had in high school and I think you're pretty cool as well.
Dirty
At first I thought you were a really cool dude, but I often see you arguing with people I respect a lot. You were quite rude and you seem a bit self-centered and as if you always think you're right.
Engine
It's always great to have you around in the shoutbox and you're mad funny. :D
Paloma
I know I've already said stuff about you but can I say that you're easily one of the easiest people to talk to in the world and that I love you so much? You're one of my best friends and I've never even met you. You're such a sweetheart and you're hilarious and I always love reading your posts.
+81
I don't think I've ever made a post here about you. I love when you come to me for advice or how I can ask you anything and it's not awkward. I just love youuuu a lot. <3
Unchained Ballad
I never wrote one about you either. You're a sweetheart and you often get down on yourself but you're an amazing person and I love to talk to you.

I think that's all for now.
