So my final say on the Freebase thing. I'm honestly surprised people are getting as uptight over it as they seem to be. The thread is for spilling your guts about a member, which means you express your opinion about them. I'm also surprised that his post is the only one being targeted when if you look back to the beginning, there were far worse posts made. Just let it go.

But it's not. We have a thread to show each other what we look like. While I do think it's shallow to attack someone for the way they look, this thread is here for any member to say whatever they want about any other member.

I'd rather call out Freebase about what I consider comments done in poor taste than sacrifice the integrity of the thread. He's a big boy, he can handle it.

I think the comments were more than sharing an opinion. They came across as a very mean spirited(not to mention ignorant and offensive) attempt to put a few member here on a stand and ridicule them.

What a shitshow. My feelings were hurt and I apologize for reacting the way I did. I've just been told I look like a dude seemingly nonstop on here and irl since buzzing my hair and I went from really liking my new hairstyle to wearing a beanie every day in real life because I'm now so self conscious about it. In retrospect I should have sent FD a pm and dealt with my hurt feelings privately.

That's not to say that I don't still stand by the points I made, though, and I still appreciate those of you who came to my defense as it were. But let's move on.

Let me preface this, first of all, with an apology. I didn't set out to offend everyone. I set out to say what I've always wanted to say for a very long time. Mainly the Vanilla thing. The rest was filler.

I don't know if it's this place in particular, or just people in general, but there are people here that will only let others get away with the truth if it hurts someone they don't care about. In all my time here, I've seen this hypocritical behavior many times and the truth of the matter is that, had I targeted people who were not in the masses' sphere of relevance, my post would probably not have ruffled too many feathers. With the exception of Trollheart's, because I believe he's a stand-up guy that would fight for anyone no matter how popular they are here.

With that said, I don't mind being made a villain to highlight a problem. So if the problem is the nature of the thread, we can talk about that. If the issue is tact, we can certainly talk about that too. However, if we decide we need to censor ourselves in this thread to preserve each other's fragile egos, then perhaps this thread is pointless.

I still don't see what the problem was with your comments. You were being more honest than most people in this thread, and i've seen a lot of posts in this thread that are much worse. I personally like this thread especially when I want to point out new members that I like.

WWWP: Fantastic musician, incredible writer and a real stunner if you want to go into shallow looks-based comments (probably not legal to carry that taser around though hon!) :rofl: Needs to post more in her journal, and if you haven't read it then you definitely should. A missed journal without question.

Vanilla: Everyone knows how I feel about Jess, but if I had to pick five words to describe her, let's see: intelligent, sexy, kind, personable, pretty ... do I have to choose only five? Alright then, six it is: talented.

To be perfectly honest, not really. I respect you for your amazing computer skills, and if I have anything bad to say about people I tend not to say it, because I'm just such a goody two-shoes y'see. I try to see the good in everyone if I can. I could say something about certain new members who probably won't even be members for long, but sure what's the point? Life's too short.

I had a big blowup with YorkeDaddy (I said blow UP!) :rolleyes: a while back but we thrashed it out in PM and now we're buddies again. I could have said some nasty things about him here, but that's not me. May make me a wimp or a bore, but it just isn't my way. Scuse me while I polish my halo: these things get so dirty!

I know what you mean. In one hand, I think it's functionally *easier* to live life that way. Certainly more harmonious. Human beings tend to not take criticism well. It invariably strikes at the ego of a person even when meant constructively, and relationships strain. And more to your point, it's easier to live as a human being that does not have negativity in his or her life, even if it is aimed toward others, because it's a burden. But on the other hand, where there are those that cannot help but to have criticism of others, those of us that have not learned how to ignore such a thing, be it personality flaws or just pure humanity, I think it's even more destructive to hold it in.
I think I've demonstrated that quite well yesterday.

I'm trying to be better about it. I always hold things in. A lot of things get to me and I want to be better at it, but it's a matter of changing the way I think versus holding my tongue. Until such a time where I'm truly only able to see positive things in others, which I'm not sure is possible, the only way I can operate is by adopting a policy of honesty.

But I could probably work on my tact. ;)
