I dunno bruh

But you are right most of the posts in this thread over the past few months are dog****, 0/10 tier

A few people give good TV in this thread, but it only really gets going when Freebase gets drunk. He was the person to create the thread in the first place after all.

Roxy: Honestly, when you first started on this forum, you seemed to be trying too hard to fit in. I still think you were trying too hard back then, but you give too much of a **** about actually being part of the community for me to care about your early days. And unlike a lot of those try-hards who are just looking for cheap acceptance, you actually connect with other members on more than just a superficial level.

Pet_Sounds: I love you, but you seem to be still at that stage in your life where you take your parents' opinions, church stuff, and anti-drug commercials as gospel. I imagine being home schooled has something to do with that, but I'll bet money that in two years you'll evolve into a moderately degenerate person I can be proud of. You need to start rebelling against authority like a true self-righteous teenager, dude.

John Wilkes Booth: I love how detached and dispassionately snarky you are, as it reflects much of my own outlook on life, but you seem like the kind of person who I'd love to hang out with in real life while always maintaining an emotional distance to. Not because of dislike, but you just seem to be one of those who maintains impersonal human connections. You probably only need and are capable of forming one or two relatively deep relationships outside of your family. Again, like me. We'd definitely be most chill in person.

Urban: His almost total lack of disclosure about his personal life leads me to believe that he seeks validation through his status on the forum that he otherwise doesn't get in "real life". That's all well and good, and I of all people can't criticize him for that, but his superior attitude toward online attention-seeking makes him come across as a hypocrite. I wouldn't want him to tone down his snark, just his unself-aware pretensions of superiority.

Vanilla: Love her, but I think she takes strong stances on many issues often because she thinks she should, rather than because they reflect her actual level of concern.

Freebase: I love that you've been willing to speak your mind in this thread, but if you're going to let loose with both barrels then don't backpedal when the backlash inevitably hits. Your reputation has already been tarnished, and your attempts to curry favor after you spill your guts come across as insincere. Stick to your guns and embrace being an abrasive douche. Or just show some foresight and hold your tongue (but that would make you more boring).

Frownland: I already said most of what needed to be said in that "review" of your live performance a few days back, but I'd just like to add that I'll be curious if you're as self-consciously eccentric in a few years. Time tends to dull youthful excesses of personality, and it takes a truly individual person to keep wearing a handle-bar mustache into their thirties (I don't believe that it's gone for good ATM).

WhateverDude: Dude, I understand that you're using this site as catharsis for your personal issues (which is cool), but without changing your behavior, you're just using your "confessions" as a way to purge your feelings of self-loathing just long enough to be able go out the next night and continue to ruin your life with some small amount of piece of mind. I feel for your issues, but using this site as free therapy isn't actually doing you any good. Seek real, professional help or you may very well come to a bad end.

Trollheart: This isn't so much criticism as it is a plea for you to put yourself first every now and again. I admire your dedication to your sister, and seriously have no understanding of the enormity of your situation, but you seem to refuse to allow yourself to think of your own wants and desires in the face of what she's going through.

I can't imagine how much she is suffering, but that doesn't mean that your sacrificing your career, social life, and independence isn't taking a profound emotional toll that you are perfectly justified in dwelling on. You have more reason to use the Bitch Box than just about anyone on this site, but you never do for your own sake. This is a safe place to exorcise your demons and you shouldn't feel ashamed in expressing them.

I got myself a pornstache in the makings as we speak. It's still sketchy looking, but hopefully it'll fill out some more. Of course, I'll have to shave it next time I go out in public as I look completely ridiculous in a non-awesome way.

@Batlord
Don't know why you'd think that. I go to church a grand total of twice a year, Christmas and Easter. Organized religion doesn't agree with me. And the only reason I'm not into drugs is I've never wanted to get high. I don't do things for the sake of being cool. BTW, I was only homeschooled until Grade 8. Math is a bore--I was a grade ahead, so this year was basically reiteration. And sex-ed was more interesting.

In short, I'm a rebel, but not a sterotype.

James 02-12-2015 01:09 PM

The stereotype that people only do drugs to 'look cool' is so irritating. Especially since most people that do drugs are incredibly lame.

Frownland 02-12-2015 01:12 PM

I do drugs because I'm an addict. The fact that I'm really cool is beside the point.

There is truth to it though tbh. Depends how old you are I guess. If you include alcohol, then just look at uni students and the uni banter #lads.

Definitely notice it with weed smokers also.

There are people like that for sure. I just think they're the minority. Or it starts off that way and they end up enjoying it for other reasons.
Weed is my main point against that argument to be honest, again because the image of those that smoke weed often is so uncool. Who wants to be a Kevin Smith type? Ew. Doesn't stop me though.

Drugs are a great thing to try if only for the experience of an altered state of consciousness. Regular use can often be more about "being cool" for the casual druggie or self-medication for the troubled, but in moderation they can give you an interesting perspective on your "normal" state of mind that you would otherwise never experience. Even weed is good for a bit of self-evaluation. They're not necessarily useful for profound, mind-expanding self-improvement as some would claim, but even just as a bit of fun, drugs are still worth dabbling in.

And you can't say you've never wanted to get high without ever actually having been high. If you don't know what being high is then you're only speaking from ignorance.

Yeah plenty of people smoke it and don't think they're a superhero for it. 2nd bit is what I meant yeah, when people start they probably do think that, I know I did.

I had to Google that name. Don't know anyone like that. I mean people more like Ali G. Can see both sides tbh.

I don't talk about it for 3 reasons.
1. I find it boring
2. I am boring
3. I find people who's favourite topic of conversation is themselves to be boring.

Also I think people confuse having a moan with having a superior attitude, people bitch about things and people all the time, I'm no different.

I don't know if people make a bigger deal of it because I'm a moderator. I've never hidden behind my mod status. I was exactly the same when I wasn't one and I've only permabanned something like 2 regular members in the 6 or 7 years I've been doing it and even then they were people who were only here a month or two, so it's not like I use this place as a power trip.

If I say there's loads of **** in the lounge it's just a personal opinion, I'm not warning anyone or telling people to sort it out or threatening to ban anyone.
I've said many many times I'm only interested in moderating the actual music parts of the board.

And of course I'm an attention whore, isn't anybody who posts something online?

I'm not seeking validation but i'll take it if given, same goes for notoriety.

I wasn't talking about you as a mod. I think you can be trigger happy with closing threads, but as far as your treatment of actual members goes you're nothing but fair. Given how prickly you can be, I'm often actually surprised that you almost never get involved as a mod in the interpersonal squabbles between members--not that I think you should, as I appreciate that you don't try to control the general atmosphere of the forum. And I certainly never noticed a change in attitude when you became a mod. I was just referencing your tendency to complain about people attention whoring when it's just part of forum life.

You're certainly no Sansa, but you do adopt a superior attitude about yourself in relation to a lot of posters. It would be weird of you to "join in the spamming fun" as it's not your nature, but it's just another form of the attention whoring that you (and we all) likewise engage in. So long as people are also talking about music, then it should be all good. I've certainly been known to slack on the music discussion, while spamming drivel, but I like to think I have my moments of relevance.

All that said, your basic personality as a poster would be missed if you really "toned yourself down" or even left the forum. People might say you have a cult of personality (and you do), but unlike some, you've never taken advantage of your status to mobilize an army of sycophants to dominate the forum. You're too much of an individualist to indulge in that form of ego stroking, which would be far more damaging than just a bit of cane-shaking.

Why he never worked in a DHSS office is a total mystery to me he'd be perfect for it.
Repeat after me....
"It's just a bit of fun"
"It's just a bit of fun"
"It's just a bit of fun"
"It's just a bit of fun"
"It's just a bit of fun"
"It's just a bit of fun"

Don't quite understand the reference in the bolded bit, but you know, I love my scoring systems! Wait till you see Star Trek Month! ;) It's nice though that in between the criticisms (which I always value, if seldom follow) there's a compliment hidden about my ideas. I could go on about why I use these scoring systems (you're referring to Scrooge and now American Dad v Family Guy, yes?) but in the end I just like to be able to say that I took all possibilities into account and didn't just plump for the thing/person/show/whatever that I liked best. As proven in "Paranoid" v "Black Sabbath", where I was surprised to find my favourite did not win. Science triumphs over personal opinion!

Also, DHSS is the UK but I would not work for the Irish Civil Service: you need to have honours in the Irish language and I never got that. Also, they're a bunch of lazy ****ers. One thing you can hopefully not say about me is that I'm lazy.

Thanks for the mention. You do these so seldom that when you do, they mean much more than those of others who do them regularly and say the same things every time. A lot of thought appears to be put into your posts, as ever, which is perhaps an example a lot of us could follow.

Who are you and what have you done with our Batlord? :yikes: Seriously, I don't bitch about looking after my sis because, 99% of the time, it doesn't bother me. I made a conscious decision to give up work and look after her. That's my decision. Nobody forced me into it and I've accepted all the consequences that come with it.

Anyway, since 2010 things have become a little easier for me and I now have a whole lot more time to write and take part in this forum than I would have were I still working. In addition to this, I was a boring bastard before she got sick, so I haven't really lost anything. There is therefore no real need for me to bitch, as most of the time there is nothing to really bitch about.

But thanks for the thought, seriously.
