This would be a lot more off the chain if they took out the Psycho beat from the actual Yonkers beat and just left the drums. Maybe. But i still like it.

Jester 04-30-2011 08:43 PM

That was like... the worst thing I've ever heard.

haha, I think I've heard worse but it's true that the mix takes a lot away from both songs. Bad choice; I was bored before 2 minutes.

Oh god! This is literally one of the worst things to ever reach my ears. I couldn't get past 30 seconds.

khfreek 05-01-2011 10:00 PM

I'm gonna assume that's sarcasm cause he hadn't even started singing yet at 30 seconds <.<

I know it doesn't really sound that bad, but in the context of what a badass, in-your-face song Yonkers is I just think it's a travesty.

DoctorSoft 05-02-2011 11:58 AM

Holy ****. Best TTC song?

Yep.

Thom Yorke 05-02-2011 01:59 PM

I've been very impressed with the 3 Goblin tracks that are out so far.

Sparky 05-02-2011 04:20 PM

What's the other?

Didn't really care for that track too much, it's really similar to Yonkers (admittedly a lot of his music sounds the same )but doesn't have the same groove I know it's only been a year, but I was hoping his sound would have changed a little more.

Sandwitches, Tron Cat, and Yonkers are the three tracks.

Antonio 05-02-2011 05:32 PM

Amazon.com: Goblin (Deluxe Edition) [Explicit]: The Creator Tyler: MP3 Downloads

Hm... I was joking the first time, but after another listen I've realized it actually is pretty awful. He even changes the lyrics... ugh.

khfreek 05-04-2011 04:05 PM

Goblin leaked

Charlemagne 05-04-2011 05:28 PM

I'm sure you just heard Nightmare...I'm just waiting for you to add it to your list.

And after listening to the album, I feel that it's good, but not as good as I expected. Tracks 1 through 7 are brilliant, but 8 through 15 kind of drop off and just aren't as strong, with the exception of Window...which is powerful, but it is overly long. Fish seems disjointed, Analog isn't memorable and Taco and Jasper Dolphin are annoying on Bitch Suck Dick and the song doesn't actually fit into the overall story until the very end. There's an instrumental between Window and Golden that doesn't add anything to the album. The final track though, Golden, makes up a little bit for the lackluster second half because it is incredibly powerful, angry, and finally absolutely self-referential, like the album is supposed to be. Overall though I have to say due to the weak middle it is not as good as Bastard, I'll have to give it more listens before I decide if I'm actually really disappointed or not. There are brilliant tracks on here too, like Goblin, Yonkers, Nightmare and Transylvania, but I just don't love it like I expected I would.

Alfred 05-04-2011 09:26 PM

Seems to be getting a lot of hate on last.fm and /mu/ ... why? I guess most people who were drawn in by "Yonkers" probably aren't musically discerning enough or tolerant of Tyler's ramblings and experiments. I think it's pretty awesome, and will definitely go down as one of my favorites of the year.

Thom Yorke 05-04-2011 10:02 PM

Really good. There are some weak spots, and that mainly goes with what Charlemagne was saying above. Out of the "new" tracks, Goblin is definitely my favourite. Nightmare and Transylvania are really good too. Also like the producing on She alot.

FaSho 05-05-2011 04:29 PM

Goblin > The King of Limbs

Dr.Seussicide 05-05-2011 04:38 PM

No contest.

^I'm going to have to agree on that one too.

Antonio 05-12-2011 11:32 AM

oh my god, that is amazing

Kirby 05-13-2011 08:54 AM

My deluxe copy of Goblin came in the mail yesterday.
Swag.

Antonio 05-13-2011 05:16 PM

just bought a copy of it yesterday at the mall, second time listening to it.

DoctorSoft 05-15-2011 06:57 AM

Loving Goblin right now, I'd probably give it a solid 8.5. Really the only song I don't like it Radicals and that's because the production is horrible.

Roemilca 05-15-2011 09:59 AM

Haven't heard Goblin yet, but Radical is ****. I'm listening to Kill by Earl right now, and the production sucks, and he comes off as a MF Doom rip-off with his flow. I'll pass.

Listen to Earl's album and Tyler's Bastard before you pass on OF, I would say

Alfred 05-15-2011 11:48 AM

The production is muddy and noisy on purpose. Ever listen to noise rock?

That is precisely why it appeals not only to hip hop heads, but to another crowd entirely! :thumb:

Heh. I actually find the production to be overly crisp and clean on most of the songs. The few tracks I like on Goblin are the rare occasions where it does actually sound sort of noisy ("Yonkers", "Radicals", "Golden").

billyjerome 05-17-2011 11:48 AM

Has anyone read this?

DoctorSoft 05-18-2011 03:54 PM

Well that was ****ing retarded. Tyler's lyrics are obviously very toungue in cheek.

Yeah, much of Goblin is pretty clean-sounding, but EARL can get pretty damn noisy.

Dirty 05-18-2011 05:40 PM

I read the Teagan and Sara thing and thought it was a valid opinion and totally get where she is coming from. Makes sense to me.

I haven't listened to this album yet. I plan to soon. The idiots and the computer tech place lost part of my computer so they had to send away for a new part. But anyways, I youtubed a couple songs off Goblin. I see myself starting to already dislike Tyler, and can easily see myself eventually seeing him as one of my least favorite artists. I feel like he's already amassed this following of people who may like his music, but are just as happy to feel like they are on the bandwagon before it gets too crowded. It's like, you see this guy who you know is gonna be big and you wanna like him, so maybe you over exaggerate how good he is or what you think of him. Liking someone like Tyler probably has some kind of edgy vibe or coolness attached to it in some weird way. The people who recognize this type of reasoning behind their fanhood don't admit it anyways-they profusely deny it, but that's how I feel.

If any of the above made sense to anyone but me, I can't be sure. But that has mostly to do with the fans and not the content. I don't want to jump to an opinion on Goblin before I listen to it cause I could end up really enjoying it. The horrorcore type image and lyrics just get sol old, so fast for me. The lyrics and flow aren't particularly impressive to me. The beats are really basic (yeah i know, 'they are supposed to be!!'). I'm just not feelin it anymore. When I first heard them I was all like OMG SOMETHING NEW AND DIFFERENT AWESOME!!!!!!! and now I feel like subconsciously maybe I wanted to be on the bandwagon before it picked up speed. Because listening to this stuff again I'm really not seeing many great qualities I enjoy
