When a release has vocals its always going to be a factor of the music, regardless of genre. I never said this album was exciting or new musically, I just said Antony's vocals add an element to it that would've been absent without him or with any other vocal in place because he has such a unique voice. I don't know why that being said is pissing you off so much.

You are saying that this album is amazing because Antony is on it. That is narrow minded and not what you are about musically Ethan.

H&LA certainly isn't "average," either, and while it isn't exactly reinventing the wheel, it does succeed at what it's trying to be: a fantastic disco throwback record that would fit right into any good house DJ's set. EDIT: Also, and lots of great electronic songs ARE made by their vocals. What would "Can You Feel It" be without the lyrics? Would "Music Sounds Better With You" have been such a big hit if it weren't for Diamond's instantly recognizable vocals? |
So they are judging it wrong then?

It is a major factor but that is an oxymoron in itself...

Also, if you'll scroll up a bit you'll notice I gave examples of electronic songs where the vocals are basically the most important thing in them. |
In Electronic music. The sound that is heard before the vocals is the most important. Dance music and it's derivatives uses are defined by their sound before their musical compostion and excellence.
If a song has it basis in Electronica then the vocals are secondary to the music. Not always but usually. |

The vocals are secondary.
