Pathetic

Well this was going to be a major event for me this year. A 10 date U.K tour in support of their first album in five years (out in March) and a long held promise to my sons that this would be a gig we would all go to together ( although me and the eldest have been to see the Foals twice) and as my youngest is now 16, it is high time that we get gigging together but after only a day or so all tickets are sold out but that is not surprising due to the bands choice of venues.

Whilst I applaud bands for playing small venues when they can easily sell out much larger venues it does give rise to the fact that a huge swathe of fans will immediately miss out on seeing the band.

The band will play the O2 academy in Birmingham which is a fantastic venue in it's own right and has a capacity of around of 3,000 but that is a tight 3,000. I have seen many bands there and if it is under capacity it is great. Standing view, great sound etc but I did see The Cult and The Mission co headliner gig there 2 years ago and I was seriously surprised that no one got injured there due to the downstairs location of the toilets as people were literally scrambling over each over to get there.

When their mom passed away I made a pact with them (they were 13 and 17 at the time 3 years ago) that this would be the ultimate gig for us and I am absolutely devastated that I have had to let them down now that the band have finally decided to tour. I haven't even mentioned the fact that tickets are from £60 upwards and do not reflect the venue they are playing in.

Why didn't they they choose the LG arena which holds twice as many and still has great views is beyond me. Gutted :(

Anyone who doesn't appreciate the genius of the Prodigy only needs to watch this video on the creation of Smack My Bitch Up. Bringing all these samples together to make something co-coherent is phenomenal

Thank you for re-posting this. I'd entirely forgotten about the vid and I'd let my distaste for the records which followed sour my taste for The Prodigy.

I grew up jamming to The Experience and Jilted Gen and had since grown old and crotchety, waving my cane at the whippersnappers that groove to FotL.

Now I'm grooving, too.

My head just popped. Had no idea all those tunes were used in it.

I need to go lay down for a while.

Always been a fan! Find their style, different, to say the least

Not pathetic. Not genius. But very good. Love their early stuff.

I liked the Fat of the Land, otherwise I'm not the familiar with them. I thought the Sneaker Pimps cover of Firestarter was better than theirs!

Made some iconic dance tracks... I'd love to be as "Pathetic" as them!

Fat of the land is a good album. It also gets you a Naga in Monster Rancher 1.
