Prodigy - Genius or Pathetic?
What do you think of them?
I hate them with a passion.
Pathetic from 1996 onwards
Love 'em. Always have always will.
Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned is an excellent album despite any naysayers (and there is alot of them). I wouldn't go so far as to say they are "genius" but they are talented composers. |
im a fan
their sound has changed but i guess alot of bands do that but otherwisw they're ok
They have certainly changed, but I think it was necessary to an extent. Bands who never evolve their sound run the risk of going stale and irrelevant. Besides, people change, and I suppose the music these people make should change with them if it is to be an accurate reflection of who they are.
Go Prodigy. |
I have no problem with a band changing. I think its great when they do, unless theyre changing to suit a bigger audience, and not playing what they want to play... I just dont like Progidy though, and never have done.
don't like'em. i dunno why, i just don't.
i remember they used to scare me when i was little, especially with their "Firestarter" video |

Just changed my winamp playlist - putted Prodigy :)
Haven't listened them for the years :) I definitely like some of their songs (Poison, Molotov Bitch) |
well they had a couple great cd's, other than that overall they are average
Not genius perhaps, but brilliant in places - and the perfect antidote to too much insipid girly house music, should you feel the need.
Punk dance music - worth mentioning that this is the outfit that crossed the divide between the cheesy quavers and the rawk crew: the act you could finally rave to if you were too rock/indie/alt to deal with all that 'faceless techno bollocks' Last two singles in UK were choice cuts, but vanished completely without a trace: Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers, Strange Days etc) did guest vocals for 'Hot Ride' too - my mp3 player track of the moment - listen to it while cycling to work, gets me there WAY faster. I got the poison. I got the remedy. I got the pulsating rhythmical remedy. |
They still remain one of my favourite bands of all time, although AONO features the slowest beats The Prodigy have ever made, it still is one of theire best albums. I think personally my eclectic tastes make all four albums good to my ears. Obviously some people will not like all of their stuff or indeed, none of it at all. They are certainly not pathetic, then again i think genius is perhaps a bit ahead of The Prodigy at the moment, but who knows, the next album should arrive in a few years so we will have to wait and see.

the prodigy are sooooo good =]

i dont like em. kinda weird
prodigy rock, love fire starter, smack my bitch up, funky ****, voodoo people and babys got a temper, just to name a few
I quite like the Prodigy. I think the beats and backing are fantastic, but the lyrics are complete rubbish and the delivery is pretty annoying.
I like there Fat of the Land CD but couldn't really get into there other stuff.
i actually have one of their CD's in my car right now... and i have 2 12 pioneer subs in the back.. and let me tell you... they have some ****in wicked bass! i love drivin around high jammin the **** out of them. its a trip. Prodigy is tha ****

Amazon are doing a 'Win Liam Howlette`s Moog' Competition

Their songs have been sampled and used so many times that they were almost genuis but turns out that maybe they're not. I liked one of their cds--the one with Smack my Bitch up (which funny enough has a Enya remix which I'm shamed to say--isn't too bad)
I was watching Charlies Angel's full throttle last night on FX, and man- do they love Prodigy. I haven't listened to them in a long time, but I'd have to give them ups for Firestarter and Smakc my Bitch Up, because those songs are still tough and driving. Same with Chem Bros. Block Rocking Beats.
I bought Fat of the Land when I still thought the Chemical Brothers were the epitome of electronic music. No Good (Start The Dancing) is my favourite Prodigy track. Old-skool breakbeat rave, none of that happy hardcore s***. I liked 'Casanova' a lot! but I've never listened to the new album.
Genius. Words cannot describe how much I love The Prodigy. :p: I was made to listen to them loads when I was growing up. I should be thanking my parents for that now. I thought Keith Flint was really weird when I was young.
Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned is my favourite album of theirs now. I don't care if the hardcore fans think this makes me a 'poser'. :p: They opened with Spitfire last year and I couldn't stop smiling. And Keith Flint high-fived me. I'm practically famous. |

As for Juliette Lewis , she shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a recording studio , let alone a recording studio with The Prodigy in it. And my personal opinion is AONO should have come out as a Liam Howlett solo album. |
The song SERIAL THRILLA is such an adrenaline rush for me. I really disliked AONO but after a while I grew into it. There are some storming beats on there. Genius? No. However I like the fact that Howlett seems to use a rock music asthetic to his dance tunes.
Neither. I have 2 of their albums and find them somewhat intriguing yet not really genius by any means.
