I've never listened to that much of their music. But I thought I'd mention I saw the Firestarter video the other day and it's wacky wacky wacky!

Here in Europe, The Prodigy are stale. Not many people like them. I hear they are popular in America among ravers and dance clubbers now. Sort of revival. However, The Prodigy had their time to shine in 1997. Their mass appeal is lost here in Europe. "Breathe" is the best song of theirs. "Spit Fire" is also okay. The rest of their songs use too much looping and repetitive beats. Plus, they seem to overcompensate for their lack of creativity with a ridiculous image -- remember Keith?

I'm defo a fan (L)

They may have lost their mass of appeal, but their music is still original, the Always Outnumbered album was different, definitely, but the rave scene and their audience had changed, I think it was fitting for the time it was released. They've got a new single out called 'Omen', it's released in the UK, around the begining of Febuary. You can hear it on Xfm, the first play was on there. I'm looking forward to the rest of the album, I don't think its going to be visionary, but its certainly catchy! |
I have to admit that anything new by them will probably fly past my radar without being caught... I always thought of them as more of a "fad" type band than anything else... and now they're past their fad use by date...

I think they are amazing, always have been and am loving the new stuff!

i respect all musicains in their pursuit, this does not mean i like their sound.

There was a lot of prodogy played to me in my youth, can't escape it.

You could listen to Fire (sunrise version), Poison, 3 kilos, Diesel Power, Climatize .. just to mention some songs off the three first albums. They all sound rather different to me. As for beats, don't forget that The Prodigy, at least the music from the first three albums (don't know the last one very well) is largely supposed to be danceable. I liked their Girls single from Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned. It also has a sound quite different from the examples I posted. |
Perhaps it is their very danceability that turns me away from them.... I am, *ahem* not a great dancer, so i guess I don't seek out music of a highly danceable nature... I probably should listen with mor eopen ears, yet this is somewhat tricky given my preferences lay somewhere well away from this genre...
Basically, I'm probably biased... |
