I'd agree with that - they seem pretty played out by now, in my opinion...

Their last album did have my favourite song by them though - Girls.

I acturally liked their cd "always outnumbered never outgunned" I am also bias towards it because my boss hated it back when I did painting and i would crank it to erk him.

Nothing like a bit of conflict over an album to really galvanise your opinions on it - I usually find that if someone starts ragging on an album I even only slightly like, my interest in said album tends to increase, just because I feel like I have a cause to fight for... I dunno maybe my brain just wsorks funny like that!

i think what killed the prodigy's popularity is the fact that it took them most of a decade to finally release a legitimate follow up to 'fat of the land'.

does anyone else remember the lead off single for the original follow up? the one with the cows in the video and the wicked moog solo?

i remember hearing that it got shelved because it was moving towards more of an 'experimental' electro rock direction, like add n to (x). either way by the time AONO came out it already sounded horribly dated, it was like a late 90s big beats re-hash.

I think its a bit funny that everyone gives prodigy a hard time for apparently 'changing their sound'.

if you listen to prodigy's tunes, they are normally producing a sound 5 years before everyone else.

5 Years after their album the fat of the land, That particular breakbeat sound was huge and has now influenced a lot of producers to merge certain styles of music together (like rock, drum and bass, breakbeat, psytrance).

Liam has done something unique with producing and is really ahead of his time.

Smack my bitch up was awesome, other than that a total F-- on that band in my opinion.

I love the Prodigy! Depsite the poor reception for the Always Outnumbered album, it was the first single from the album, Girls that got me into them. Big fan, love their stuff.
