I don't think that you should have to check if a shop, or a bar, or a pub, is full of smoke before you enter it (for fear of being choked to death) - because there shouldn't be smoke in there in the first place (unless someone's having a barbeque in the back garden!!). And it's a fact that buildings in which people smoke heavily need cleaning and decorating more often than ones that don't. So it costs money, not only to the smokers themselves, but to the people who own the buildings that they spend time in.

^word, smoking in a completely enclosed space is kinda nauseating. i don't mind smoking indoors, as long as someone cracks a window or something. i think the whole issue would be solved if smoking sections just put in some proper ventilation, it might cost a little more for heating etc, but then everybody's happy.

I smoke (especially when I drink), so I'm all for smoking wherever (not to mention that I'm from North Carolina where all the cigarettes are made).

I hate it when a city passes a law that prohibits businesses from making their own decision on this subject. If they want to have smoke-filled bar or restaurant, and don't care about turning away or turning off the non-smokers, then they should be able to do that.

This whole discsussion, to me, is a classic case of the government thinking that they know better than the people. "Smoke-free" cities (like Boston, or LA) that have already passes laws like this just piss me off.

That's a sensible thing to do.

I would be for a smoking ban in public places.

I work in a restuarant/bar and I come home stinking of cigarettes and usually coughing, why should I be punished for earning some money?

Also there is nothing worse than if you are at the front at a gig and the person next to you decides to have a cigarette and there is absolutely no way of getting away from it.

The British Government also disgusts me with trying to fob England off with a partial ban (only banned in places that serve food) whereas Scotland and other areas get a full ban in all public places.

People can smoke in McDonalds in Germany. It smells horrid.
Not that it doesn't smell bad anywhere else, but it's the smoke added to the oil and grease and all that jazz.

The Glades is much nicer now it's smoke free.
