Jim Davis's motive in drawing this sketch was clearly masturbation. He was embarrassed to keep pornography in his home with the sentiments of the time and had to draw his own material. Ass appreciation was dangerous in pre-Mix-a-lot days, zoomers have no idea. My thought is that he drew this with the intent I just described, then realized he had a deadline coming up in minutes. He started a decent joke but as the deadline neared, he just threw words into the caption, checked his pants for stains, and sent it to the presses.

Is that legit the comic though in terms of the text? I've read it over 5 or 6 times and it still doesn't make sense to me.

Having read a million and one Garfield comics I'm going with no. And since Garfield being written by assistants is also a modern meme I'm saying Chris' Garfield hate is also a meme cause OG Garfield is brilliant.

I think Frown is ****ing with us with some edited meme ****.

It's the last line: "Hot eat the food" that doesn't make any sense to me. If it was simply "the hot food" it would make sense.
