TockTockTock 01-24-2011 05:30 AM

Never been to a concert. I was pretty pissed when I missed Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, and the Flaming Lips concerts (even though Dylan sings terribly now).

I really love Dylan - but sings terribly now?

I was never aware that he was renowned for having the voice of an angel in the past!

Howard the Duck 01-24-2011 05:54 AM

Jacky Cheung (God of Canto-pop songs) in Singapore in August

Ah man you NEED TO GO TO A CONCERT! THIS MUST BE ACHEIVED!

jackhammer 01-24-2011 06:01 PM

Finally. The band that started all this crazy shit regarding music for me and I finally get to see them after 25 years!

I have seen many classic bands a few times but these are a big gap on my gig C.V:
http://sz.sonispherefestivals.com/wp...DEN-SZ-800.jpg

Yes the line up is generally awful but it is the exact birthday of my best mate who I have known for 25 years and will be with me so it is going to be a great day whoever plays :)

Chuffed to bits. Oh it's Iron Maiden in Switzerland BTW lol.

RVCA 01-24-2011 07:13 PM

Slipknot!!! Yes!!

bob. 01-24-2011 07:50 PM

i was lucky enough to catch Iron Maiden on their "Best Of The Beast" tour and it was one of the "big" shows i've ever scene....those guys are relentless with their energy and they did a 20 minute version of 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner'!

When I was under 18 (only a few years ago) and wanted to get into 18 or 21+ shows I would always try to arrive at the venue early and see if you can offer cash straight to the band to get you in. Worked with Propagandhi, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yelstin, and Blackalicious but the other 10-15 times i've tried that it's failed hard.

Better than messing around with identity theft felony with a fake ID.

I am jealous. Be sure to listen out for new songs....

downwardspiral 01-25-2011 04:51 PM

seeing the vaselines again tomorrow night! should be a great show, they were awesome last time i saw them.

TheFolkslave 01-25-2011 05:07 PM

I'm going to see Jeniferever In March. Jeniferever is a pretty good indie/post-rock band from Sweden. I'm not a huge fan of theirs but I think they are pretty good and since they're playing in my hometown I basicvally have to go. Also I'm going to see Callisto in March. They're having their 10-year anniversary celelebration gig. Callisto is a finnish post-metal band and is one of my long time favorite bands. They were originally from my hometown of Kokkola but later relocated to Turku. Ironically I also moved to Turku to study last year. They are my heroes and it's always nice to see them play live :)

No! No he doesn't!
I know what you mean and I like his new voice, but when you go and see him live, he sounds like he is in his hurricane time. It's brilliant.

Not sure if I posted this already:

Will be going to The Bees in April :)

I'm curious to hear how this goes, I read that Gene completely butchered Vancouver last night, so much so that the band left the stage.

Laces Out Dan! 01-25-2011 09:16 PM

Hey Rosetta!

March 16th in Victoria.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 01-25-2011 09:35 PM

I'm going to a free Marimba concert on Friday. No idea what they'll play but Marimbas are awesome.

Dude, that is awesome!

My little sister plays marimba - her teacher can do all sorts of really intense stuff with it. It's actually really cool to watch.

Yeah, I'm actually kind of psyched for it, in a weird way. They're also doing Tchaikovsky(which, obviously isn't very uncommon) violin somewhere else but they're charging 30+$ for it. Ridiculous for a form of music that is uncopywritable, and is probably funded up the ass with bonds, etc, from the government, and donations.

Love classical music. Absolutely loathe how it's presented by modern society.

noise 01-26-2011 06:53 AM

I just found out Emancipator and Blockhead are playing together at a small local venue next month. Sweet.

Huh, sucks for them. He didn't butcher anything at all, it was great! Though apparently we missed like 5 songs in the beginning. When this venue says 8, I think they mean it. We still got a solid 2 hours despite missing the beginning, though. And the encore included "You Fucked Up" and "Touch My Tooter"...awesome.

FETCHER. 01-26-2011 10:48 AM

I actually sold my T in the Park ticket...

FaSho 01-26-2011 11:08 AM

Going to try to go to a lot of shows in the next few months

March:
Ice Cube

April:
Ke$ha
Coheed and Cambria
Iron & Wine

May:
Sleigh Bells

DoctorSoft 01-26-2011 11:43 AM

I would be seeing the Pixies in April, but no, instead I'm visiting relatives in Quebec. Oh well, things could be worse...

Animal Collective in May! I'm thinking about dropping some acid and literally blowing my mind! :D

Tell me how it was when you read this. I saw Grinderman at our BDO last week and the experience blew me away. I still have to pinch myself as a reminder that it was all real and I did in fact see Nick Cave performing little more than a few metres in front of me :D

I was disappointed about that, especially as I enjoyed their new album and would dearly like to have heard it live. But the upside was that Kora filled in for them, and having seen them twice, I'd consider them a worthy replacement.

Ahhh you're so lucky! I love Kora. We've got Paul Dempsey filling in for the Australian shows and he's okay but nothing special. I almost bought a ticket to the Auckland BDO, now I wish I did.... ours is going to be 40 degrees tomorrow too :S

It was astounding! Nick Cave was launching himself all over the stage and Warren Ellis was falling over and dancing to the music the whole time. I loved that they were constantly deviating from the written music to impromptu jamming and screechy distortions. My first time seeing Nick Cave and definitely one of the best concerts i've been to in a long while.

scottsy 01-29-2011 02:18 PM

Damn, wish i saw that!

No concerts on the agenda for me unfortunately... still too broke and strapped for time between my two jobs... bummer, it's truly a bummer!

PoorOldPo 01-29-2011 03:47 PM

Body and Soul Festival in Ireland. Can't wait.

Kirby 01-30-2011 12:18 AM

Probably seeing these soon.

Citizen Cope (Not sure. My girlfriend wants to see him. I've never really listened to him)
Murs (**** YESSSSS)
Coheed and Cambria (ew. I told my friends I would go, though.)

djchameleon 01-30-2011 05:31 AM

Citizen Cope is okay.....you'll probably end up enjoying yourself as this show.

Queen Boo 01-30-2011 04:57 PM

Yeah, so like, my friend just said she'd give me gas money and buy my ticket if I drove her to this. AP Tour 2011 in May.
Are all of these bands as bad as I suspect they are?
Black Veil Brides [Standby Records]
Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (D.R.U.G.S.)
I See Stars [Sumerian Records]
Versa Emerge [Fueled By Ramen]
Conditions [Good Fight Music]

I know Black Veil Brides are terrible but I've never really bothered with the rest....

Engine 01-30-2011 05:42 PM

I just bought my ticket to see..

SWANS

RVCA 01-30-2011 06:03 PM

I could see them in early March... but I haven't decided if I want to.

ThePhanastasio 01-30-2011 10:08 PM

The Queers: February 3rd (These guys are great live!)
Trey Anastasio: February 26th (With an "in" to get backstage; I've probably never been so excited!)
Keller Williams: March 18th (REALLY pumped for this one, too.)
