I would say that the Brits definatly started the Rock & Roll scene. They artists like the Beatles and other bands are pioneers. The Yanks I would say opened the Rock & Roll scene to a new look with sounthern rock. Like Lynard Skynard. But all in all, I think the Brits win this one. America is known more for our "Country" music. Which is by the way terrible. Also I want to add. Why is'nt this a poll?

I more or less agree with Boo Boo's post, i'd give it a tie for the 80's (don't make me choose between Brit and Yank 80's Alt bands) and Brits for the 90's (we were just in the zone there).

The Brits are disqualified from the 90s because they still owe us a major apology for Oasis.

Why on earth is everyone so quick to give the noughties to either the Brits or the Yanks when neither are doing anything special outside of a few bands. Whereas the underground and mainstream music of the rest of the world is pretty much demolishing these two once great scenes with both quality and quantity. Take them out of the equation it's basically a tie. Sure the US may be making more good music, but they're also making a massive amount more crap compared to the UK. That and the fact that there's no difinitive local scenes in comparison to Europe and Japan makes it a pretty moot point.

Woo yay, dismiss a band that sounds exactly like radiohead.

Oasis is pretty good, but I will agree that they are massively overrated.

The few times I have been subjected to radio, and heard either band outside of a controlled environment I haven't been able to tell the difference. Both are bland, british and utter shiet.

I don't really like Radiohead. Sorry if that pisses anyone off but they just don't work for me.
