50s, fair enough. I mentioned before about the USA having better roots-music.

70s - Joy Division, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Queen, T-Rex, Bowie, The Jam, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who, The Kinks, Black Sabbath, John Lennon, and the last Beatles album.. but counting The Beatles for 70s is far too weak.
