i love scene overviews like this, it's like the Nuggets of NWOBHM, but you know, it makes you want to get pissed |
Molecules- if you were female I would marry you! It's a great compilation and was a huge influence on Metallica (for better or worse).

Hezekiah Jones-Come to Our Pool Party, it's not as good as You're A-OK but it's not bad at all.

Hooverphonic - Sit Down and Listen To this is amazing. i thought i had all Hooverphnic until i stumbled upon this yesterday. it's an acoustic album featuring some of their best stuff. recorded live, but with no audience - sound is warm and clean. the lack of synth throws the songs from their usual place among other great trip-hop sounds in to a more jazzy, downtempo place. the vocals are jaw-dropping, especially on 2Wicky. any Hooverphonic fan must get this one! or if you want to hear some awesome and very original acoustic sounds accompanied by one of the most incredible voices in the world, then track it down. it's superb :) |
I have been dying to give them a listen too!
|
I re-downloaded Atmosphere's "You Can't Believe How Much Fun We're Having" because I made a stupid last week and deleted the folders for my A-B-C, and # bands... lost like 10 gigs of music... not happy.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8pueNCuyXA...s320/atmos.jpg Best song is arguably the end song, "Little Man". I Really like it when hip hop artists do songs dedicated to friends and family, leaves me with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. |

Lately I've been listening to "That Night" a lot, sad story behind that track :-\ |

Dont know what to expect at all. Friend wants me to check it out. |
That is some fine hardcore punk right there.
|
After listening, I do agree.
It's been getting heavy rotation today. Anyone know anything else I should check by them? |
Self-titled for sure. "Banned in DC" is requisite listening for anyone who wants to delve into that side of punk.

Thanks for the recommendation. |
Also I Against I, shows a different side of the band, with their usual hardcore punk sound in the mix.

Alexander Tucker - Old Fog.
http://www.roughtrade.com/site/produ...es/263245L.jpg Stunning Freak Folk album with some of it sounding like the guy was a wandering minstrel in a previous life. Superb. |
That actually looks pretty interesting Jack. I think I'll go check it out!!
Anyway- http://www.connollyco.com/discograph...l/thick_hi.jpg Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick Quite outstanding, wish I had downloaded it earlier. I'm not that big a fan of long suite-like tracks, but this one deserves every bit of acclaim it's ever gotten. :D http://www.progreviews.com/reviews/images/TD-US.jpg Tangerine Dream - Underwater Sunlight Up until now all I had of the Dream was Phaedra, but this album has convinced me to delve further into their discography. Killer guitar work and chillness abounds! |

Tokio Hotel - Scream
Got it only because I've never heard of them... well I heard of them but not a song written by them |
Te Killers- Day & Age. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me.

The only one of their three albums I haven't heard. I hear it's the best, so I'm expecting good things. |

[Self-Titled, Evil Empire, The Battle of Los Angeles, and Renegades] Renegades is a cover album, though. Five, if you count their live album. |

Bought on vinyl So my record store just got this new vinyl section and surprisingly enough it's filled with almost nothing but my fav albums. Awesome. :) http://xfe.xanga.com/45ef0b475433420...z161465988.jpg Zero 7- Simple Things http://www.jazzbioguide.com/images/m...tches-brew.jpg Miles Davis- Bitches Brew |

Afrika Bambaataa - Planet Rock
Dated, but still replete with inspired moments. Classic. |

Stu: Man I dig me some Bambaataa. I was sad they didn't make it very far in the Hip Hop Battle. |
Am I the only one who thought that Evil Empire was a peice of shite?
I like their sound, but that album had way to much filler. Everyday I'll think, "alright, today I'm going to give RATM another try." But I never do. |
I haven't listened to either one in awhile, but I don't recall anything bad about either really.
