Last one I downloaded was Mastodon's "Crack the Skye".
I tried to post the album cover but I have to make 15 posts first, heh. Anyway, the album is awesome. I downloaded it, but I will buy it when it's released. |

Quasimoto - the Further Adventures of Lord Quas (2005) Until recently I thought 2000's Madlib alter-ego album 'the Unseen' was a one-off. That is one of my favourite hip-hop albums O.A.T, so I was chuffed to get this today. As with the last Quas album it is an ultra-stoned concept album take on old skool hip-hop values: crate-digging, turntablism... not a corny autotuned vocal or crunk synth-line in sight. Kind of makes me wish I had an eighth of hydro. 'The Unseen' has also long been a part of my bedtime regimen, helps me sleep really well Oh yeah and dig the frank zappa ref in the artwork |

Haha, like every member I've considered doing one, so maybe one day. I should get a last.fm, it seems criminal of me to not have one on this site. But yea, I'm flattered that someone is interested. :)

edit: also dreadnaught i'd like to know your thoughts on the state of UK hip hop (if such a thing exists), i have a couple of mixtapes worth a listen and albums that stand on their own but our urban culture is very idiosyncratic mostly |

Ah bless you <3. Last.fm never scrobbled properly on my computer, probably because of my ****ty connection. |

Well, here's a bit of what I got recently-
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_djGjgTTMax...s320/front.jpg Demon Fuzz - Afreaka! (1970) Obscure album by an obscure group who did some touring with Comus back in '71. Demon Fuzz were a very jazzy, rhythmic band, who blend soul, funk and psychedeliciousness into groove-laden jams that are awesome. Great album! http://www.progarchives.com/progress...6141322009.jpg Ain Soph - Hat and Field (1986) If you folks ever have to pick just ONE Japanese symphonic prog. album to put in your collections, this is the one to get. Very lush, high-level in terms of musicianship, and floats like a boat to boot. In a sense, listening to Hat and Field is like being awake inside a dream, lying on your back as a river carries you past countrysides... |

as for me: Dr. Dog - We All Belong http://www.leftybrown.com/weallbelong.jpg Dr. Dog - Fate http://www.pastemagazine.com/article.../drdogfate.jpg I like what I've heard but I feel like they could be a lot better. They have some songs that I love but they just aren't consistent. |

The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers I basically bought it because it was only 5 euro in the used cd section of one of my local record stores. The first 3 songs Steady As She Goes, Hands and Broken Boy Soldier (which happen to be singles) are great classic rock-tinged songs but everything after these songs just fail to grab my attention. It feels pretty long for a half-hour album. |
Portishead - Third
http://terrorism.com.ua/i/Portishead_Third.jpg This is quite literally the best album I've downloaded in a very long time. Mogwai - Rock Action http://www.rockstar.it/img/mogwai_rock_action.jpg For some reason I never got around to getting this album, but it's already challenging Happy Songs for Happy People as my favorite from them. Primal Scream - XTRMNTR http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...2.LZZZZZZZ.jpg I liked it, but they still haven't blown me out of the water. Can - Tago Mago http://muzikoselitas.files.wordpress..._tago_mago.jpg It didn't wow me after the first listen, but I'll give it a few more listens before I pass judgment. |

as for me http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_MtxTHiJUjk...aphy+Front.jpg R.Stevie Moore - Phonography (1976) already one of my favourite albums from one of my favourite artists O.A.T, you could say he is an acquired taste but in the context of my preferences and musical outlook his appeal was blindingly obvious from the first note. I feel really guilty for having never payed for one of his albums so that's next on the agenda. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lvn2CxWkHL...+Beautiful.jpg Black the Ripper - Black Is Beautiful (2005) Difficult-to-find debut mixtape of superior UK MC who's hits include 'Fuck Tony Blair', 'Hood Shit' and 'Dead Presidents'. The quality on all the shares i've found is a pathetic 96kbps so I am going to support this struggling artist with my money aswell. When i wring the funds from my struggling bank account. The minuscule listener base is such that he can get away with lifting classic hip-hop beats and killing it. In a good way. It's been postulated on grimeforum that there are between 50-100k (if that) grimeheads, about 10% of whom actually pay for releases, so it won't be paying any mortgages. Dizzee and Wiley blew mainstream after making commercial dance tunes but that's the way it goes... |

Chris Squire - Fish out of Water This is the one and only solo album ever made by the god of Rickenbacker bass playing, Chris Squire "The Fish" of Yes. Thanks to the presence of a backing orchestra and Mel Collins on sax though, the sound is both different and somewhat richer than the band he's been a core member of since 1968, and in other ways a bit groovier. :thumb: |
