Earth - The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull

I kind of go through a thing where I find something that seems interesting, playlist it on Spotify, and get it after a while if I consistently enjoy it. Only realized tonight that I hadn't actually added any Earth to my library yet, and I knew I consistently enjoyed this album months ago. Miami Morning Coming Down II (Shine) is a stand-out track for me (especially the contrast with the dissonance pulses in the rock organ), although I'll admit I still haven't listened to this album enough yet to pick out the nuances in every single track. Normally, that post-rock sound is a little too weighty and navel-gazey for me, but... I don't know. Something about this album's pacing hits a sweet spot with me. Nothing feels overly long, and I get extra time to savor the sounds that I really like.

Also, that Manic Street Preachers album cover makes me want to crack a Botero one-liner, but I feel like that would be kind of shallow surface humor... oh well.

Just came across this in iTunes. Sounds fantastic. Doing some serious channelling from the 70s. What did you think of the album?

Just realised they're playing here in Melbourne on Friday. Might have to check them out.

Reminds me of Jenny Saville.

EDIT: **** me, it is Jenny Saville's art. She's incredible.

I'll have to give those Genesis, Yes and Steely Dan albums a listen sometime since I haven't heard them before.
