Looks like crocodile skin to me.

The Men - New Moon (2013)
This is pretty bad so far, I was hoping it would actually be better than their last which everyone seemed to love and I didn't like so much. It seemed to be a transition album for them so I figured maybe they'd hit the nail on the head with the next one. But no. It sounds like amateur band practice, with everyone playing just a bit off from the other players, and bad vocals. Track 5, "I Saw Her Face", seems a little better but still with weaksauce vocals.

Chelsea Light Moving - Chelsea Light Moving (2013)
If you don't know, this is Thurston Moore's new project. I played this for the first time yesterday and thought it was pretty good, looking forward to continued listening.

CLUTCH - EARTH ROCKER (2013)
First impressions are good but not overwhelmingly so. Trademark boozy, bluesy, stoner metal. I will definitely be listening again.

AMPLIFIER - OCTOPUS (2011)
Bought at the gig last night. I bought this version which is 2xCD, 1XCD of the 'Fractal' LP and a huge booket. It is hardback cased. Beautifully packaged album.

AMPLIFIER - ECHO STREET (2013)
I bought this at the gig too. Another very well presented album that also includes the 'Sunriders' EP and a 60 page book. It seems a little more ambient and laid back than older material but on first listen I enjoyed it. The gig was good too, the new stuff was mixed with the old well and it was good, loud, trippy and a little shoegazey. I just hope it isnt really their last UK tour.

Depeche Mode - Delta Machine

Quite nice. A mix of their industrial roots with a dub step sound and lots of harsh electronic elements.

Very smooth beats and wicked melodies, I really like their sound.

Back to Black by Amy Winehouse. I cannot believe I never gave the album a chance until now. It's a crying shame she's no longer with us. She was incredibly talented.

Dubstep? Seriously?

LOW - THE INVISIBLE WAY (2013)
On first listen I'd have to say it could be their best for many years. They haven't "gone back to their roots" as such, but its trademark, depressive, fairly basic but beautiful slowcore. More piano's this time round, more Mimi vocals (which is a good thing) and some wonderful vocal harmonies.

HURRICANE #1 - S/T (1997)
Man, I hadn't listened to this album for God knows how many years. I heard 'Step into My World) in a pub in York on Monday night and got it stuck in my head. This kind of british, guitar-driven indie (or "britpop" if I must use that term) was certainly not rare in the late 90s and I'm not sure how much this really stands out from the pack but I enjoyed it. Andy Bell may not be the greatest guitarist of all time or anything but his talents were certainly somewhat wasted playing bass in Oasis.
