Awesome album.

I was gonna step up anyway on this, so its a ringing endorsement. His stuff is always so catchy and the grooves are great for get togethers and parties. I figured he would knock it out of the park after being on hiatus for so long.

It's probably the best mainstream Pop/R&B album I have ever heard.

Anyone else planning on listening to it? I really think it's a contender for AOTY.

Amplifier - Echo Street (2013)
A big departure from their previous album The Octopus but no less ambitious. I'd say it's their most accessible album to date. Their sound is mellower and less riff-driven than their previous material but there's some great use of guitar effects, especially during 'Extra Vehicular' which almost reminds me of 'Soma' by The Smashing Pumpkins. This album could have had the tendency to slide towards safe alternative rock but they do a great job of preventing that happening with some unexpected turns and some nice textures.

I've been listening to it off and on: it's definitely not the record anyone was expecting out of Justin, but I dig it. A lot of people are comparing it to D'Angelo's Voodoo due to its non-conformist approach to modern R&B. xD

Based on your rec I listened to Mirrors. It sounds not at all special to me. In fact it borders on unlistenable for more than 90 seconds. Sometimes I really don't get you, man. You ever listened to Prince or at least R. Kelly?

Sounds like an acoustic folk album recorded in a haunted house.

On my list now. Thanks!

I've always wanted to go to one of Ethel Smith's swinging hit parties but never got around to it. Now I can feel like I'm actually there.
My life is complete.
