Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution—A Call to Arms
I have no idea how I missed this when it came out back in 2001 but this is a fantastic little EP. This group is connected to Catch 22 and Streetlight Manifesto so I assume it's somewhat well known, but the music here is a different animal than what you'd expect given the pedigree. To some extent it's written like poppy ska-punk music, but it's played by a fairly large acoustic ensemble that transforms the material into a gorgeous big band/classical/latin/gypsy hybrid. My only complaint is that this is all they've ever released.

My favorite track:

I love this EP the most out of everything Tomas Kalnoky has done, I just wish they had released more material. There was suppose to be this "99 Songs of Revolution" thing but as far as I can tell it hasn't come to anything besides an Streetlight Manifesto cover album.

Just started this and the first track I've already fallen in love with. To me, James Blake is such an accessible artist, yet his music doesn't seem to appeal to most people. I for one am glad to say I listen to James Blake.

Pond - Beard, Wives, Denim (2012)

Pretty cool Psychedelic Rock album so far. It has elements of Garage Rock thrown in for good measure. If it maintains this pace I will be impressed.

For some reason, the song "When It Explodes" sounds like what would happen if Slowdive did Psychadelic Rock at times (Alison being the song it reminds me of to some extent).

Enjoying the song you posted, I'm going to have to track this EP down.

Blackouts—History in Reverse
Despite the fact that I've been a Ministry fan for almost a quarter century, for some reason it's never occurred to me until relatively recently that Paul Barker's bass playing is (a) one of the distinguishing features of Ministry and (b) probably the biggest influence on my own bass playing. With these thoughts in mind, I tracked down the collected recordings of his first band. Pretty good post-punk/no wave kind of stuff I have to say.

Device-s/t

David Draiman from Disturbed's side project with Geno Lenardo from Filter. I liked the single I heard from them Vilify so I'm giving the album a go.

Thee Oh Sees - Floating Coffin (2013)
I've been a casual fan of this band for the last few releases, nothing awesome but worth the occasional listen. Putrifiers II was alright, I probably enjoyed it more than Carrion Crawler / The Dream but still it wasn't awesome. I like this one more than anything else I've heard from them, it'll get more plays from me. I really hate the album cover though. They had some good ones in the past but Putrifiers II was also ugly.

Never heard of this band. Rieflin and Barker? Cool, I'll investigate.
