I have no idea how I missed this when it came out back in 2001 but this is a fantastic little EP. This group is connected to Catch 22 and Streetlight Manifesto so I assume it's somewhat well known, but the music here is a different animal than what you'd expect given the pedigree. To some extent it's written like poppy ska-punk music, but it's played by a fairly large acoustic ensemble that transforms the material into a gorgeous big band/classical/latin/gypsy hybrid. My only complaint is that this is all they've ever released.

Despite the fact that I've been a Ministry fan for almost a quarter century, for some reason it's never occurred to me until relatively recently that Paul Barker's bass playing is (a) one of the distinguishing features of Ministry and (b) probably the biggest influence on my own bass playing. With these thoughts in mind, I tracked down the collected recordings of his first band. Pretty good post-punk/no wave kind of stuff I have to say.
