That's basically exactly how I felt about it. Stuff like Lazy Eye and Melatonin really stood out when I listened to Carnavas, but there's nothing here that does that.

I'll give it some more plays though, and keep hoping.

Also, my most recent now is

Dntel - Life is Full of Possibilities

Haven't gotten to listen yet, with any luck I'll give it a spin tomorrow.

Rusted Wheel is probably my favourite. Future Foe Scenarios has some great guitar work though.

I just posted this in the Albums You're Digging thread by accident. It's meant to go here, as I haven't listened to it yet.

Anti-Pop Consortium - Fluorescent Black

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

These dudes can't keep their name consistent. On the cover of Tragic Epilogue, it was Anti Pop. On Arrhythmia, it was Antipop. Now it's Anti-Pop. :usehead:  They are screwing up the last.fm scrobbling! No for real. I changed my tags to Antipop.

I saw an almost identical set as this 8 years ago, around the same time that this live album was recorded. It was one of the better shows of his that I've seen, so it brings back great memories.

the dub specialist studio one, dam good album!

Certif1ed 10-01-2009 10:50 AM

I don't buy CDs... :D

I bought;

Rainbow: Down To Earth
Van Der Graaf Generator: Pawn Hearts
John Zorn: Spillane
Beatles: Abbey Road (misaligned Apple sleeve)

on vinyl, naturally, for £3 each, except the Zorn album, which was £5.

...and a couple of others that have been absorbed into my collection already so I've forgotten what they were... I must have needed them then. I did double-check that the "Abbey Road" was really priced at £3 - the shop dude assured me there was no mistake.

The Zorn album is an absolute corker!

I went on a bit of a binge this week but here's what I've been listening to:

Dethklok - Dethalbum II
Slobberbone - Everything You Thought Was Right Was Wrong Today & Crow Pot Pies
Scott H. Biram - Graveyard Shift & Something's Wrong/ Lost Forever
Justin Townes Earle - The Good Life
The Drams - Jubilee Dive
Langhorn Slim - Be Set Free
Unknown Hinson - The Future Is Unknown
Agriculture Club - Farmageddon
Hank Williams III - Straight to Hell
Uncle Tulepo - Anodyne
The Felice Brothers - The Felice Brothers
The Sadies - Favourite Colours
The Pine Box Boys - Stab!
The Dexateens - Lost and Found
The Pine Hill Haints - Ghost Dance
Corb Lund - Losin' Lately Gambler
Uncle Sinner - Ballads and Mental Breakdowns

So... which artist doesn't belong with this list

^ Great music. I'm assuming you have their two studio albums? You should pick up the New Order substance too.

Anteater 10-02-2009 09:42 PM

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6ZlZdFezLa...d+lp+cover.jpg
King Crimson - Lizard [Remastered, FLAC] (1970)

My favorite album by my favorite group at the peak of its remarkable sonic potential. What more could I ask for?

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_C1miLbWSR-...s320/front.jpg
Fridge - Happiness (2005)

Electronica-post rock hybrid that shuffles through smoking jazz bars, woodland folk and trip-hop gigs throughout its wandering. To put it lightly, a fucking phenomenal record.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AtfTFLz_dO...s320/cover.jpg
Béla Fleck & The Flecktones - Three Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1993)

Banjo-jazz at its finest, and that's saying something considering how many damn good albums this outfit has produced over the last fifteen years or so.

sidewinder 10-03-2009 12:52 AM

^ Thumbs up for King Crimson and Fridge.

I've downloaded a slew of albums lately...some for the purpose of a Listening Club I partake in, some of my own choosing.

The Detroit Cobras - Mink Rat or Rabbit
The La's - The La's
Hoodoo Gurus - Stoneage Romeos

Awkward - Adequate
Ulte - The Nest and the Skull
Aether - Artifacts
DMX Krew - The Collapse of the Wave Function

Also the live Warp20 performance in Sheffield by Clark.

One Be Lo - S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M.

Haven't heard this since it came out.

jackhammer 10-03-2009 02:09 PM

Haven't heard this for over 15 years and what a lost classic it is. Imagine a cross between Echo & The Bunnymen with the more mellow sections of the Stone Roses debut and you are sort of there.

Soundtrack to this sword and sorcery 'epic'. A huge guilty pleasure!

I could never get into Housemartins but I do have a soft spot for Beautiful South. Underappreciated Pop band.

The Boy 10-03-2009 07:26 PM

Within the past two weeks I've downloaded:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...Unexpected.jpg
- Beyonce's album sounded boring, so I decided to download what was probably the most underrated and unnoticed pop albums of 2008; neat to here her go from gospel to electro/pop style with her soulful vocals. BEAUTIFUL SOUND!
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ieAnthonio.jpg
- Favorite end of the summer disco track; Annie is still one of my top favorite pop/dance artists with this being her first new material in five years
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...fect_World.jpg
- Beats are fun, danceable, crazy, sexy, cool; love "Return the Favor" with Timbaland

The Boy 10-03-2009 07:27 PM

And today at Best Buy I bought:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...oose_cover.jpg
- Favorite pop/dance album from 2006, finally decided to actually pay for it lol
http://www.rap-up.com/blog/wp-conten...ilty-cover.jpg
- This year's big comeback and of course you have to support the "THE VOICE" even if its not what it once was
http://www.starzlife.com/wp-content/...um_cover-3.jpg
- This time Mariah made an album worth listening to! THANK YOU MARIAH!
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...n_-_OK_Now.jpg
- Like his music and vocal style

The Boy 10-03-2009 07:27 PM

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ixWolfgang.jpg
- I love fun '80s synth inspired pop
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...resistance.jpg
- Like their sound and the subject matter
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...MikaTheBoy.jpg
- Love his kind of campy, quirky, kitschy pop
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ialEdition.jpg
- Love this album Pop/R&B/Disco/Soul Classic!
Now I think I will preview Beyonce's last album, simply because I refuse to pay for music I will most likely be dissapointed by. But I've convinced myself to give it a listen.

Ya i have closer and unknown pleasures but substance has "atmosphere" which is my favorite. I had not listened to them in a while until just recently I watched that movie control and I went out and got substance. I'll check out the new order substance.

This is absolutely kick ass. Dirty Garage Rock that sounds as if you were in the same room as them.

I really didn't think their newie would be any good but they have ditched the nu Metal riffs and upped the Electronic angle along with the reggae vibes. Me likeys.
