The Dirty Projectors | Self-titled

Solid 7, MAYBE 8 on a cloudy day. Dirty Projectors concerts aren't gonna be the same without those chicks doing harmony vocals.
Fuck me I never even saw them once.

Well, this was about what I expected (though I am not complaining!) -

An album by Takeshi Terauchi & Blue Jeans that I haven't heard before. Guitarist Takeshi Terauchi and his Blue Jeans band, playing mostly fast-paced instrumental surf-rock with a bit of traditional Japanese folk music influence permeating most of the tunes.

An album by Calibro 35 that I have heard before. An Italian band which plays a combination of instrumental jazz, rock, and funk with a good dose of crime/thriller soundtrack music vibes running through their music. I've enjoyed everything I've ever heard by this group, and this album is no exception.

Satan's Pilgrims ‎– Psychsploitation (2009)

Instrumental psychedelic rock with the vibe of late 60's exploitation film soundtracks. Possibly the most authentic sounding 60's retro-psych I've ever heard, right down to the song titles and album cover.
These guys know their stuff and it comes through loud and clear on this album.

Candy Claws - Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time (2013)
I love that feeling of being baffled by an album on first listen, but knowing that you are in for a treat on further plays. Their sound is dense and complex dream pop. It's wonderfully psychedelic, distorted, and strangely melodic.

Weed - Deserve (2013)
Despite being a loud and heavily distorted shoegaze album, there are some songs that could pass off as post-hardcore if you were to tone down the guitars. The first half of this album is enjoyable, with even some screamed vocals, but the last few songs lose my interest. Decent enough for a couple of plays but not substantial enough to warrant more.

Emma Ruth Rundle - Marked for Death (2016)
The album cover mirrors the album contents - a tad gloomy. This album is wonderful though. Musically it calls to mind the heavy and doomy sound of Chelsea Wolfe and True Widow, and vocally the likes of Angel Olsen. Despite having a dark and defeated mood, this album is beautiful to listen to.

Ooooh that sounds really promising.
