The album cover also convinces me that they're all men. Look at them. The one on the left simply cannot be female.

I'll definitely say, though, that there is something eerie and naive in the album's sound and lyrics. The story behind it is fairly interesting. too ... you should look into it.

now that you mention it....it does remind me of the jocks dressed up like cheerleaders from Revenge of the Nerds! :)

Haven't bought a cd for while, but the most recent one I bought was a collection full of great midis called "Sleeping under the stars". It's a great way to relax and be at peace!

I finally got hard copies of both "F#A#oo" and "Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven" today. It's nice to have them along with their liner notes.

I haven't downloaded anything since early June before I went on vacation, because when I returned I couldn't turn on my desktop computer and have yet to fix it. So I've been using my laptop and haven't bothered to install my download software. Plus, I really want to return to my regular iTunes library before I download more stuff. Though I'm being quite lazy about fixing the computer and getting more comfortable with the laptop. Anyway, I did buy two digital releases this week, since both were released only in that format and I wanted to support the artists.

Ochre - Early Learning (2011)

http://f.bandcamp.com/z/26/99/2699687371-1.jpg

A collection of early recordings from the pre-'Midsummer' era (2001-2003), professionally remastered and assembled in July 2011. IDM for fans of Plaid, Boards of Canada, etc. I have his other 3 albums and they are pure bliss. Name your price download (various formats including FLAC) at bandcamp.

Phoenecia - Demissions (2011)

http://f.bandcamp.com/z/21/34/2134508407-1.jpg

IDM akin to Autechre. Haven't listened to it yet, but by some accounts it's reminiscent of Autechre's Draft 7.30.

Kendrick Lamar - Section.80 (2011)

New hip hop album that's been getting some good reviews. I'm only 5 tracks in and I'm enjoying it, it's a pretty unique album for underground hip hop. It's pretty blunt in its subject matter, but it's well written and delivered so it works. The beats are pretty nice too. I'd definitely recommend this if anyone is looking for some new hip hop.

Bought:

Another countless rip off of the original Space Ritual live album but a decent package with an extra CD of live stuff from the era convinced me to part with £3 for a well presented double gatefold C.D.

Super Furry Animals with slipcase. Again £3

TheFolkslave 08-09-2011 07:32 AM

I've downloaded a bunch of albums but here is some of the best/most interesting ones:

http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/wp-c...ra-cahoone.jpg

Sera Cahoone - Only as the Day Is Long

Sera Cahoone was the drummer for Carissa's Wierd (I'm a huge fan of them btw) and she also played drums in Band of Horses. Only as the Day Is Long is her second solo album. I really like this alt.country, folk album. Really lovable vocals and beautiful songs with harmonica, slide guitar and banjo here and there. I've really loved this album and her fellow Carissa's Wierd bandmate Jenn Ghetto's solo stuff but I'm not that huge about Ben Bridwell's Band of Horses or Matt Brooke's The Grand Archives. I quess the girls from Carissa's Wierd just do the stuff better than the guys these days :D

Here's a song from the album:

http://www.cloushare.com/wp-content/...50-300x300.jpg

Scandinavian Music Group - Manner

SMG is a finnish pop/country/folk band and Manner is their new album released in 2011. I really dig this album and I saw them live this summer and they were great.

http://www.incendiarymag.com/images/...amond-Mine.jpg

King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Diamond Mine

Really great folk/indie/folktronica/callitwhateveryouwant collaboration album from these guys. I haven't listened to that much music released in 2011 but this is one of my favorites from this year.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD please send me links to albums released this year or give me recommendations to albums released this year since I've been lazy and I've been listening to Dylan, Guthrie, Ochs, Baez and other Folk revival stuff so I haven't had the time to research on what albums there has even been released this year.

Man I should of checked this guy out a lot sooner, this album is the ****. The beats are really original and catchy, and this guy's vocab is insane. My favorite songs are Daylight, No Regrets, The Yes and the Y'all, and 9-5'ers Anthem. Overall a great album and I really wanna get more into this guy's discography.

Probably the best album of the year for me so far, I love **** Your Ethnicity and Ronald Reagan Era the most, and the rest of the songs are almost as good.

Although this is my favorite Aesop album, two other standouts are "Float" and "None Shall Pass".
Also, if you like Slug and Murs, and want to hear Aesop's production skills, Felt 3: A Tribute To Rosie Perez.
