Good choices. Boxer is one of my favourite albums. YHF is great, but somehow disappointed me for all of the enthusiasm I'd heard for it.

Yessir. I've always loved it, but I recently had a little bit of money, and looked it up on Amazon. They had one copy of the Limited Edition, so I had to get it.

Saint Etienne - So Tough (1993)
A band I'm really getting into at the moment so I'm working my way through their discography in chronological order. This album is nearly as good as Foxbase Alpha but not quite, it seems to lack the 60's vibe that some of the tracks on Foxbase Alpha had. But it does make up for it somewhat with cracking tunes and the gorgeous piano-led 'Hobart Paving'. A great album.

Malory - The Third Face (2005)
Another band I'm really loving at the moment. I already had their second album Outerbeats which is fantastic and so far this album seems just as good. The band do such a great job of blending beautiful ambient guitars over electronic beats and they sound like no-one else really (maybe Slowdive at times). This album isn't quite as atmospheric and ambient as Outerbeats but the songs are more prominent and the heavier beats give the music a more danceable feel.

Sneer 08-24-2011 03:33 PM

I checked out a Malory album on your recommendation, Outerbeats... Very nice.

Yeah Outerbeats is awesome, I've had it on heavy rotation over the past week. The Third Face is definitely well worth getting too, not as spacey as Outerbeats but seems to be more accessible. They're an excellent band and I'm raging I didn't get into them sooner.

^ I got that album too and I haven't listened to it too much yet but I love falling shine, great song

five songs of just out right noise rock....i'd even use the term "by the numbers" which i feel with noise rock is a very good thing.....heavy distorted bass, feedback break downs, intelligent somewhat misanthropic and despondent lyrics....but not to the point of silliness....if these guys stick together i think some pretty good albums will come out of them....and yeah the cover and names of both the band and album kind of sold me on dropping the whopping $5 on the ep :).... recommended for fans of Unsane, Kildozer, and (early) Today Is The Day

Lost this ages ago and have only just had the thought of re-downloading it. Still hits the spot, all 10 minutes it. I used to have the album cover on a tshirt... lost that too. Life doesn't want me to be a fan of HWC.

A expanded version of a long defunct punk band from the late 70's. This has the original 7" single plus demos and live tracks from CBGB's. Think early Blondie. Catchy but with an edge. Decent enough.

Featuring various members of past Death metal bands this is refreshing and surprising in that it sounds like 80's era Death Metal with a splash of New York Hardcore. Superb guitar sound coupled with hardcore style vocals makes it stand out in the crowd as 90% of metal bands these days sound exactly the same.

Enjoy that one man, it's probably in my top five of the year so far, easily one of the best post-rock albums in recent years.

ISolvePractical 08-27-2011 11:02 PM

last album I downloaded... was I think the most recent Homestuck album, Prospit & Derse. good, as all Homestuck music is good, but nothing particularly caught my attention first listen. have yet to listen to it again, I'm so bad about listening to new stuff more than once.

I remember listening to this when it came out and hating it (like many others at the time). Let's see how it holds seven years later.

LoathsomePete 08-29-2011 10:45 AM

Is that a new Those Poor Bastards album? Damn those boys don't take long to release new material.

bob. 08-29-2011 10:50 AM

New M83 was supposedly leaked to a major music site about 30 mins ago. Fetching now, hope it's the real thing, it's not due out until October!

If it is, would you be so kind as to slip it my way?

Zer0 08-31-2011 05:29 AM

^ I'd very much appreciate it if you sent it my way too.

My last download was this:

Bardo Pond - Amanita (1996)
A fairly decent psychedelic/space-rock album with a nice mixture of quiet spaced-out moment and walls of noise. It's quite a lengthy album and some songs don't grab you on first listen so I'm guessing this album is going to take a few listens to get into.

Sneer 08-31-2011 05:31 AM

Amanita is fantastic, it will definitely grow on you with further listens.
