Under Soil and Dirt - The Story So Far (2011) Trying to decide if I love this or hate this. The songs have been stuck in my head constantly but the elitist in me can't help but feel kind of embarrassed listening to it in my car with the windows down (broken AC represent). It reminds me of Fall Out Boy or something with much better vocals, lyrics, and without the pretty boy image to cater to 13 year old girls. Lots of reputable sources have been hyping the **** out of it so maybe it'll grow on me, but right now I see it staying in the realm of catchy but forgettable pop punk to me. But the band is very young, only a couple years older than me, so they have a lot of growing up to do. Will keep an eye on in the future. |

Tool - Lateralus One of my favorites that took me awhile to get. Deep stuff man... |

Disco Inferno - D.I. Go Pop (1994) This band popped up in my last.fm recommendations and I just felt so curious to check them out. This is some seriously trippy stuff, listening to this it feels like you're tripping balls. They have a very experimental/early post-rock kind of sound with very English post-punk sounding vocals and they also manage to blend everyday sounds such as running water, camera sounds and thunder into their sound. One of their members went on to join Bark Psychosis. Fascinating stuff. http://www.soundstagedirect.com/medi...k_civilian.jpg Wye Oak - Civilian (2011) I was digging the song 'Holy Holy' so I had to check out this album. So far it's a pretty solid indie rock album with echoes of Beach House, Mazzy Star and Holly Miranda. This one could be a grower. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg The Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops (1983) Their 1989 album Hats is a remarkable album and this album is meant to be just as good if not better. Going to save this one for late tonight so I can get the full effect of it, makes more sense than listen to it at quarter to two in the afternoon. |

Zer0, thanks for reminding me about D.I. Go Pop. I've been meaning to get that album for quite some time.

I've always had a penchant for dreamy music, so this is right up my alley. |
Among Giants, The New and Very Welcome, Manqué, Tyler Daniel Bean - 2040 Split
http://f.bandcamp.com/z/42/56/4256058262-1.jpg A really nice split available for free on each their individual bandcamps (except for Manqué, but it will be soon.) It's also for sale on cassette, but only 99 were made. These are some very talented amateur musicians and it's definitely worth a listen. Also I ordered Into It. Over It. - Twelve Towns on vinyl. http://musictap.net/wp-content/uploa...06/12Towns.jpg It's pretty much a compilation album of all his tracks he included on splits with other artists, all named after towns. The songs are fantastic, and the vinyl is Red! I get excited too easily. |

Luminous Orange - Drop You Vivid Colours (2003) A pretty good Japanese shoegaze band. The album didn't quite grab me on the first listen but it sounds a good bit better on the second listen. The band have been around since 1992 and cite My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth as key influences, which you can tell from their sound. The band have a mixture of English and Japanese lyrics like Asobi Seksu and throw in some nice skewed guitars that give their sound some originality. I might investigate this band further. http://cdn.7static.com/static/img/sl...462624_350.jpg Malory - Outerbeats (2001) This is just wonderful. I've been putting off this band for quite some time now and I'm beginning to wonder why. This is a magical collision of shoegaze, dream-pop and ambient electronica that takes your breath away. The wonderful layers of guitars, ethereal boy-girl vocals and electronic beats blend together perfectly into an incredible and uplifting sound. If you're a fan of shoegaze and dream-pop this is a must have. |

Frodus - And We Washed Our Weapons in the Sea (2001) Pretty awesome post-hardcore/math rock band here from D.C. Definitely not like a lot of the other bands from that scene though, these songs seem to be a lot darker and more dissonant, I love the bass too. |

This album is incredible. |

I hope you enjoy the new Horrors album more than I did, just didn't hit me the same way Primary Colours did.
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dqUa5Xm7Qi...99866877e4.jpg Light Bearer - Lapsus (2011) New post-rock/post-metal album from a relatively new band from England. The album follows Luficer as he's banished from Heaven and becomes ruler of Hell, and while it's not the most original story (Deathspell Omega covered it better) it's still ambitious for a first album. The album really does a good job at creating a tidal wave of emotions, so if you like post-rock and post-metal then definitely check it out. |

Still not bored of whimsical English songs about Bananas yet. (Even though there aren't any on this album) |

Check this one out its my favorite. |
Mister Heavenly - Out Of Love
http://blaremagazine.files.wordpress...pg?w=400&h=400 A really interesting sounding album so far, I'm still trying to decide what I think, but Thorburn and Honus Honus play off each other surprisingly well despite the hugely contrasting styles of Islands and Man Man. Plus Doom Wop is just a fascinating genre concept. |

Just listened to some samples of this album. I am so utterly confused that I must download it immediately. Thanks for the tip. |

Got these on vinyl today at a record fair.
http://bandolikalbumreviews.files.wo...d-breeders.jpg The Breeders - Pod (1990) I only had The Last Splash so I felt the need to get this when I saw it. It's hard to compare it to The Last Splash after only one listen but it seems just as good, although some songs did tend to sound a bit samey. http://cdn.7static.com/static/img/sl...420974_350.jpg The Psychedelic Furs - Mirror Moves (1984) Despite the terrible and dated artwork this album is pretty good. I was already familiar with the songs 'Heaven', 'The Ghost In You' and 'Highwire Days' from their All Of This And Nothing compilation but there's plenty of good album tracks as well like 'Here Come Cowboys'. Although there's one or two filler tracks it's a solid enough album. I also got a vinyl copy of The Blue Nile - Hats which sounds even more amazing. |

Cliched but very listenable old school rock with a stoner tinge. Saw them last week and they introduced themselves like this: ' hi we are from Finland and we have barely performed outside of Finland. We are old farts so have a listen to this' and they then stomped their way through Black Sabbath's Wizard. Quality. Have a track: http://cdn.doseofmetal.com/wp-conten...al-sons-ep.png Rival Sons 2011 E.P. Led Zep rip offs but they sound good. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_tOdk8POtfl...Rs/s320/at.jpg I lost touch with the Metal scene in the mid/late 90's to my own detriment. Terrible album cover but it's what's on the inside that counts and this is a cracking melodeath album. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ysxe_nZha2.../gomerpyle.jpg Gomer Pyle - Idiots Savant. Monkey 3 with vocals which is a good thing. Stoner Rock meets Space Rock. Easy on the ears and all the better for it. Can't you tell I'm on a Rock tip this week? :) |
Finally got a chance to order this...
http://mindinversion.files.wordpress...ls-winter2.jpg One of my favorite beats/tracks of all time. |
After watching this wicked bike video, I looked up the song and grabbed the album. Really enjoying it!

The last things I got were The National's discography and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Wilco. I mainly like Alligator and Boxer from the National, and YHF is a fairly cool record so far.
