More dirt-cheap used CDs...

http://cdn.7static.com/static/img/sl...458453_350.jpg

Grandaddy - The Sophtware Slump (2000)
Yep seems like my kind of thing. The first comparisons that come into my head are Mercury Rev at their mellowest and a bit of early Flaming Lips as well. This album has a nice sad and weary tone at times but can sometimes be uplifting. It sprung into life on first listen and my guess is it will sound even better with repeated listens.

Boards Of Canada - The Campfire Headphase (2005)
Yes it took me a long time to get around to this one, saw the CD and thought what the hell why not? This seems a little bit more ambient than Geogaddi and Music Has The Right To Children and doesn't seem to hold my attention as much as the other two. Hopefully I will grow to love it with a few more listens.

Both great, The Campfire Headphase is just as good as their holy cows.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - I'm With You
It's pretty good. Only wish Frusciante would've stayed his guitar and lyrics are what made the chili peppers great. This is still pretty good I like what I'm hearing. Kinghoffer does a decent job on this album. This is kinda a different approach though from there later material. The music is not as hot as it used to be now it's just mild.

16 Horsepower - Yours Truly
http://www.soundstagedirect.com/medi...horsepower.jpg

a new greatest "hits" collection type album....pretty good overview of the band....the 2nd cd has some sub par demo tracks and two unreleased tracks....so worth checking it out if you love the band.....and very worth it if you've never heard them

Wolves In The Throne Room - Celestial Lineage
http://www.progarchives.com/progress...12482011_r.jpg

have not listened to it yet....but will later today.....i have high hopes

I wouldn't even bother downloading that for free to be honest, they are just playing it way too safe, they have gotten really boring to listen to for me. Don't get me wrong though I love their earlier stuff still like Mother's Milk, Sex Magick and Californication.
You should listen to his solo album he released a while back. It's called "The Empyrean". It's beautiful.

http://www.peacehut.be/WDJNK/wp-cont...e-empyrean.jpg

as in John Frusciante's solo album.

Excellent album. I don't listen to it nearly as much as I ought though, because it's simply so intense. Also I do most of my listening at work, and the 10 minutes of assorted noise in Cop Shot Cop tends to really irritate my customers. Keep an ear out for Broken Heart as possibly the saddest song ever penned.

Some of the best stuff I've heard The World Is...do, and Deer Leap's side is great too, good to see them use vocals.

Gotye - Making Mirrors

I love Gotye, he is one of my favourite Australian artists, and this album is just amazing. A. Mazing. One of the best things I've listened to in the past couple of years.

Toby Foster/Evan Gornik - Split 12"
http://f.bandcamp.com/z/41/30/4130919134-1.jpg

So excited I finally found it! I'm pretty sure I have all the Toby Foster songs on it already, but he's amazing so I'll let it slide. I loved Evan Gornik under his moniker Nice and Friendly...so I have high hopes for his half.

This is really good as far as artists releasing there material for free goes. Deals with some pretty dark themes.

Also the latest 10ft Ganja Plant. A change of pace for these Dub merchants introducing a lot of vocals and some sweeter rocksteady influenced sounds. Still decent enough though.

Latest Anthrax album with Joey Belladonna back in the studio with them in nearly 20 years. Surprisingly good apart from the track Crawl that sounds like some leftover 90's Grunge track :(
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...-vcAOKhlwkpwFB
Gotye - Making Mirrors. Loved the early stuff. Deep Soul influenced Trip Hop and judging by the couple of tracks I have heard this sounds just as good.
