Haven't heard this in a while, so I decided to give it a spin.

The Jesus Lizard - Goat (1991)

Beats coffee in the morning any day!

^TIL about a pretty awesome band called The Jesus Lizard.

I think they should collaborate with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and call it King of Kings Gizzard and the Jesus Lizard Wizard.

Just arrived in the post! I don't even own a CD player... but since when have I been practical?

A brilliant addition to my library!

Sure, but what's it called?

innerspaceboy 07-21-2016 04:58 PM

Ah yes! My apologies. The Future Sound of London's classic album - Lifeforms. Also featuring Klaus Schulze and Robert Fripp... this is an exquisite milestone of avant-garde ambient music!

Imagine looking out over this as you're tripping and hearing Lifeforms for the first time:

Absolutely incredible. What a fantastic experience!

I can't even begin to imagine the impact a visit to modern day Tokyo would have had on early ambient artists. What would Cauty, Paterson, or the early Astralwerks acts have sounded like with that sort of influence?

Or crazier still - if anyone from the Berlin School dropped by for the weekend?

Jesus Lizard beats sex in the morning any day....Goat is by far one of the most essential albums in the "noise rock" genre....and it will official be the soundtrack of my run this morning :)

Thanks man:yeah:

Finally got my copy of the Avalanches' first album in 16 years, Wildflower!

I'm playing it through for the fourth time now and loving it more with each play. I also decided it was a crime to not have their monumental debut in some physical form, so I've ordered the original digipak from Australia on Modular Recordings (which only sets a fella back $4). It'll hold me over until *fingers crossed* they one day reissue the album on wax.

The sound of summer!

Oh my.

Oh dear.

I thought I'd take a glance at the official Avalanches FB page to see if anyone had inquired about the chance of one day seeing a reissue of their first LP.

For years I'd accepted that clearing 3,500 samples would be a logistical impossibility in the modern age of copyright.

But there... on their official page... was a statement that a reissue is live and pending... in 5 days!

I verified it against a similar statement they made on Reddit and confirmed it again from a redditor listing a third distributor.

I just ordered it - one of the most important cut-up/plunderphonic/remix culture albums in history... the album which, until today commanded $350 a copy online...

...for $25.

I need to go lie down.

Zhanteimi 07-24-2016 06:49 PM

For someone on a limited budget like you, this must be excellent news!

Quincy Jones and Bill Cosby - The Original Jam Sessions (1969)

Soundtrack music for The Bill Cosby Show which aired from 1969 to 1971. As far as I can tell, Bill Cosby only lends some vocals to the tunes.

I have not been able to stop listening to this album. I'm not even a Radiohead fan, and I can say with guarantee that this has potential to be my album of the year. It's so well done, and I really wish this is what Radiohead will sound like from here on out.

There's rumors that this might be their last, or maybe another record a few years down the line. If so, it's a fine swan song.
