one of the only good things about living so close to detroit is the abundance of old techno vinyl. i stumbled across it at laurie's on the northside, which is a great place to find vinyl when i'm feeling like a indie prick.

Some top albums right there, probably pointing out the obvious but you really missing out by not picking up Live At The Witch Trials and Grotesque at least.

I just nicked this from a friend. She had just bought it and she already thinks it's amazing:

(we'll see)

Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares - S/T (1975)

Choral Balkan folk music alight with some ridiculously fantastic vocal melodies and a golden touch of ambience. Even people who don't dig world music would happily spend an hour or so with this!

Infectious Grooves - Mas Borracho (2000)

Funk metal with a LOT of funk that I picked up after seeing it mentioned in the 'Modern Soul/Funk' thread. Raw, bassy n' rotten in all the right places!

King Crimson - Lizard [40th Anniversary Remaster] (1970/2009)

My favorite King Crimson album finally got the Steven Wilson treatment, and by the moons of Rexxor it sounds GLORIOUS!!!!!! Everything from the slightest of acoustic guitar licks to Jon Anderson's vocals on the title suite have all been cleaned, sharpened up and brought to the front of the mix, and this gem of an album has become that much awesomer for it.

I never heard any Infectious Grooves other than the first one. Maybe the second also, now that I think about it. But I was a big fan of the first.

Hmm, maybe I should check out that Lizard remaster. It's not my favorite but it's good.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Indeed you should...Wilson & Fripp really pulled out all the stops. Want an up?
