On the real though, pertaining that album, it's one of the best of it's kind I've heard, and the band in general is too. They do the raw black metal thing like Akitsa, White Medal, Horrid Cross, etc, but Ash Pool is so damn catchy and awesome, and the recording is tight. Not too far on the raw side as some of those bands can get. It also has a greater sense of melody, and can get pretty heavy at times. There's some genuine breakdowns, that rock hard.

It's a project of noise mastermind Dominick Fernow (tons of stuff, mainly Prurient, but also Cold Cave and Vatican Shadow) and some of Ash Pool's stuff showcases those influence. But their black metal is just so damn good.

Mount Eerie - Wind's Poem

The atmosphere in this album is so incredibly beautiful. Through the Trees in particular is a definite high point. I'm in love and mad for not giving it a thorough listen sooner. I'm slowly making my way through his discography though, and what a beautiful discography it is.

I want to have Phil Elverum's babies. Interested to see what Sauna's gonna sound like when it's out in 2015.

Opeth - Pale Communion

Once upon a time, Camel and Blue Oyster Cult had a baby in Sweden and left it stranded to be raised by wolves. That baby's name was Opeth. I'm very pleasantly surprised by this album after the disappointment that was Heritage. Akerfeldr still can't write lyrics for **** though.
