I like Meat Loaf's singing, and I'm a huge Todd Rundgren fan, including his production work, but I hate Jim Steinman's songwriting, and the only thing Meat Loaf has done that I really care for is his singing on Ted Nugent's Free-for-All. I'm a big Nugent fan, by the way, which is another unpopular opinion. I wish Meat Loaf would have worked with Nugent a lot more. He was a great fit for Nugent vocally.

Symphonic metal is easily, hands down, without any doubt in my mind, the absolute worst subgenre in all of heavy metal.

I tentatively agree. Can't think of any symphonic metal bands I truly like, unless they're also power metal bands.

I honestly think Emperor are the only one I enjoy, I can't think of any others that I can even listen to without cringing the whole way through.

I don't even really like Emperor, or most symphonic black metal for that matter. The boringness and/or cheese of symphonic metal, usually with a weakened version of Norwegian black metal, a genre I am already lukewarm with.
