But true if you really think about it.

So, i'll give you guys this, hip hop hasn't been used to it's potential and what's being put forth isn't as diverse as other genres, but according to the requirements for what makes something rap or hip hop it has the least amount of limitations on what you can do musically than any other genre.

No, it's more diverse than the others. Every other genre has an instrumental template they follow while Hip hop has none set in stone. It takes from other genres and can still be hip hop. It does it in a way that no other genre is able to do. Why it's my favorite genre, it feels the most free to me.

Way more often than not it only uses samples to add a sonic touch within the confines of traditional hip hop. That sample isn't fundamentally altering song structure, just making for a different sound within the song. It's awesome and all, but ultimately it's most often a cosmetic change due to a hip hop song's need to be background music to the vocalist. That's why instrumental hip hop can be way more interesting.

any kind of music can be rapped over, so maybe it is the most diverse

This is exactly what I'm saying.

You don't need a beat, it doesn't need to be samples, and even the way you rap could be used in a way that fits all these styles.

To be fair everything that gets labeled avant-garde has sounded samey to me. But essentially you can have hip hop that is also avant-garde.

Wait, you think that means anything? You can sing over hip hop beats too. You can sing over just about anything. Rapping is just another vocal style. It's not even a genre of music.

comparison is still an exercise in futility but who really cares
