Wasn't the golden age of super hero comics exclusively stuff made for 8 year olds? That's a serious question, btw

Yes. From what little I've read it was also pretty primitive in art style, writing, and panel design (some of those pages just look dull and ugly). It's not particularly well thought of in comic books circles as far as I've seen.

So it must be the "golden age" more in commercial terms, or in terms of being an age of invention, rather than the time where comics were best.

Yeah, as far as I know it was the time when I guess the highest percentage of the population was reading comics, and until the 90s with the speculator boom was probably the high watermark for sales as well. AFAIC if it were about quality the 80s would be the Golden Age.

It was the comic I liked as a kid and the only comic I ever liked.

Bro, there's so much good ****. You'd love Miracleman tbh. Superhero deconstruction that gets more and more bat**** crazy with every issue cause Alan Moore is a ****ing weirdo who considers himself a wizard and thinks that superheroes are a symptom of a society that longs for fascism.

Spoiler for big ****:

Well, a woman's vagina ends up getting pretty stretchy at one point.

Then you should read Miracleman too. Same writer, but the story is more bizarre.

Yes, but it's an edition that uses the original black and white art before it got reprinted in full color a little while later. If you're cool with that then by all means, other wise you'll have to deal with like 6 volumes or however many.

Black and white: https://www.instocktrades.com/TP/IDW...NET)/APR150415 (I've used this site and it's legit)

Color: https://www.amazon.com/Miracleman-Bo...iracleman+book

Honestly though digital comics are where it's at.
