Eh. It feels important but I have no desire to listen to it. If I was of the time it might have destroyed me but the concept of what they were doing is now well-established so why do I need to keep listening to them? It sounds like performance art as music and now that the performance has been noted why do we still need it?

Sometimes being first at a thing also means doing a really underdeveloped version of an idea that has nothing to stand on but it's novelty value.

If nobody had ever developed Venom's sound then they might be there, but Venom still have plenty of good songs afaic.

Always love an unpopular music opinion - serves either to help people reevaluate their own opinions or to laugh uncontrollably - both positive outcomes.

Here's a few off the top of my head:

"Regret" was the greatest single that New Order ever released.

Insomniac was the best Green Day album.

Side 1 of Sabotage was Black Sabbath's shining achievement.

The White Stripes are massively overrated and the best part of the White Stripes was Meg White.

No Looking Back was Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown's best album.

Axl Rose was a more impressive singer for AC/DC than he was for the GnR revival.

Protection is a better Massive Attack album than Mezzanine (just ignore the "Light My Fire" cover)

How can Meg White be the best part of the White Stripes when Jack White pretty much is the White Stripes even in his solo career

Because she served as a slightly alluring visual distraction during live shows while Jack played his sleep-inducing music.

Well, because it's awesome you see. ****'s just pure energy and raw emotion.

Are there other artists who heavily borrow from them that you prefer?

Mondo Bungle 09-16-2018 04:51 PM

what about all other original no wave bands

edit: not saying I prefer them as an answer to the question above, (though I do prefer a lot) just saying

Their best record imo. Hole in the Sky, Symptom of the Universe, Megalomania, and The Writ are monster tracks. It's also phenomenal just as an album experience, it feels like half of its runtime whenever I listen to it.
