I've always been more in love with the Ozzy years than the later stuff, but the Dio Sabbath material is great too. Sabbath's run from their debut to Sabotage is one of the most impressive run of albums in metal history to me.

I love Priest and Maiden but I've always viewed it as sort of the opposite - Iron Maiden being Priest's little brother. Mostly because I've heard Priest since I was a wee lad as my dad was a huge fan. I've seen them twice in concert and one time they performed the entirety of British Steel. Screaming For Vengeance is probably my favorite album as a whole, but Defenders is mad underrated, The Sentinel being probably my all time favorite Priest song.



Saxon is kicass too, that live album you put me on has been in a regular rotation, what a great record (thanks for that!). And Accept is great too!

I see why grindy is on to you. Yes, this is a thread for unpopular music opinions, but not for forcing your opinion down everyone's throat. It's fair to say Westlife are great (as an unpopular music opinion) or Slayer are pansies, or whatever. But you're attempting to control or overrule the way everyone perceives music, which makes you, and I'll say it again, a dick. I actually think it's you that has the thin skin. I don't give a fuck what people listen to, as long as they don't try to force their opinions on me. It's you who's saying people should do this, don't be sheep blah blah blah heard it all before.
Your sentence makes no sense. I asked you for a clear source as to how you know what was bolded in your post, ie that most musicians were poor, squatting and so forth. So what your answer has to do with that is beyond me, unless you are, as you seem to be, avoiding the question as you have no answer?

Ozzy years are clearly the best years but Dehumanizer is underrated. I remember Dio having a solo album from the same time that was similarly heavy as balls and also based.

I always forget about Dehumanizer when thinking about the Dio years (probably because of the time lapse in its release compared to the others). But damn, that album is the heaviest Dio Sabbath album. Great stuff.

I've never listened to that Dio solo album, but that song kicks ass. I'll have to check it out.

I don't remember if I've ever gotten your take on Killing Joke. Are you into them or nah? They get grouped into the post-punk lot, but they've written some pretty heavy songs:





Being the awful irredemable conformist that I am, my favorite album of theirs is Night Time, when they softened their sound and started actually writing songs that could get radio play. It's the perfect balance of bite, bile and '80s (pun intended) hooks to me. Good enough for Kurt Cobain to rip them off, anyways (yeah, yeah, Killing Joke actually ripped off the Damned, I know)

I've definitely heard a lot of righteous Killing Joke songs but I never gave them the full discography listen to really have too much of an opinion on them. Pandemonium definitely slaps though. And their self-titled. And their debut. Don't have too much more to say.

Pandemonium is a beast. They've got a really strong discography. I even love Brighter Than a Thousand Suns, in all its '80s new wave glory. Some Joke fans abhor it, but I think it's brilliant in its own right, even if it stands apart from their other works.

When it comes to their early stuff, I don't know exactly why, but I always liked their second album What's THIS For...! more than their debut (which I suppose is an unpopular opinion). Their rhythm section was in TOP form for that album. It just pounds.

Yeah I've listened to more than a few of their albums and always dug them but they have so many wildly different albums it can be hard to get your head around them and be in the mood to hear all of it at any one time. They're definitely a white whale band for me I've always known I need to put more time into.

Fair enough, I have plenty of white whale bands like that. Ashamed to admit, but besides Pet Sounds, I don't think I've listened to any other Beach Boys albums. Rush is another one, don't think I've listened to more than three of their albums.
