I can't recall a single interview or biography where a band or artist had spontaneously purchased a 4-track. Most had to save-up for one (brand new or second-hand), while others borrowed one from a friend or contact.

Accessibility, in all respects, was far more limited back then.
Your source for these wide brush-strokes is....?

*shrugs*

Water off a duck’s back. Maybe you should adopt that mindset…

This thread is for voicing unpopular music opinions but you expect others to be PC here?! LOL! Either you’re in the wrong thread or you seriously need to grow a thicker skin.

Damn, I forgot about Portishead, REM, Wire, Black Flag, Talk Talk, Beach House and XTC - forget it, the list is ruined

Edit: And the Buzzcocks - and the Cure

Edit 2: Do the Beastie Boys count as a band? They must if you have ICP. Paul's Boutique is the GOAT'ed rap album, forget about Illmatic.

Woulda put Sabbath up there but it's been long enough that I was regularly throwing them on that it would be virtue signaling.

Sabbath never gets old and Sabotage is still my favorite of theirs. What a kickass metal album

I really do need to rediscover my Sabbath love cause they're amazing. Easily the best band you can hear on a dad rock station. Also Judas Priest is getting up there for me after years of being Iron Maiden's little brother in my eyes. Oh and Saxon, I forgot Saxon!

I've always been more in love with the Ozzy years than the later stuff, but the Dio Sabbath material is great too. Sabbath's run from their debut to Sabotage is one of the most impressive run of albums in metal history to me.

I love Priest and Maiden but I've always viewed it as sort of the opposite - Iron Maiden being Priest's little brother. Mostly because I've heard Priest since I was a wee lad as my dad was a huge fan. I've seen them twice in concert and one time they performed the entirety of British Steel. Screaming For Vengeance is probably my favorite album as a whole, but Defenders is mad underrated, The Sentinel being probably my all time favorite Priest song.

Saxon is kicass too, that live album you put me on has been in a regular rotation, what a great record (thanks for that!). And Accept is great too!
