Maybe it is because the only grunge bands I have really listened to are the big ones (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice), but Sixteen Stone is simply an awesome album IMO...

I'd say Dirt and Badmotorfinger are twice as good. Maybe even Temple Of The Dog.

If you haven't you should really check out Mudhoney.

I have listened to both of those and I still prefer Sixteen Stone. I'll probably try Mudhoney when I get to that chapter in the book Our Band Could Be Your Life but honestly most grunge doesn't do it for me. I can enjoy Nirvana because most of the time they sound like more of a punk band than a grunge band...

I'd say that's the case with Mudhoney. I'd say they are more abrasive. I've been meaning to read Our Band Could be Your Life.

Michael Azerrad is a great guy.

I thought Bush was a horrible disappointment since they came from the UK, I thought they sounded bloody awful, I consider myself pretty much a big fan of UK music, I've been a big fan of British Rock starting with The Shadows, through The Beatles & Stones to The Smiths etc etc upto The Arctic Monkeys. The Kooks are infinitely better then Bush, I think I heard they're named after George W. & George H. repsectively. I personally don't consider Bush as "Grunge" per se since they do not hail from Seatles, but as a Post-Grunge either from UK or US they are far from the best.

True.

And I'm not sure if I said this before, but Panic at the Disco's cover of 'Karma Police' is waaaaay better than the original imo.
Not true.

Unless you like your songs to be incredibly bland, Panic at the Disco are so generic sounding, I dunno how anyone who isnt a preteen girl could be a fan of their music.

If you mean better produced, sure. Otherwise, I can't agree. And I say that as someone who was a fan of MCR early on, as well as other 3rd wave emo bands in that vein. so I'm not completely biased. But they're really different styles and shouldn't be called by the same name, so there's really no point arguing. It's like arguing that grunge is better than post-hardcore.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

sorry dude, but no. Bush was grunge-lite for everyone's little sisters.

Machinehead was the exception to prove the rule hehe
