Well they made it after all, I'm sure they have a pretty different frame of reference for it than the rest of us.

Most musicians / songwriters seem to criticize their music in ways their fans don't... I wouldn't be suprised if they disliked it for aspect that you and I wouldn't pay any attention to as fans or casual listeners...

True but in this case I still agree with Cunning Stunt more than those New Order assholes.
Now I want to know what Stephen Morris thinks of it

Joy Division blow New Order out of the water is another slight unpopular opinion of mine. Well, blowing out of the water may be a slight exaggeration. But Joy Division's sound, for me is in another league to New Order.

That's an unpopular opinion?!
I think 'blowing out of the water' is a fair description of how much better Joy Division is than New Order. And I love New Order

I think they are in different leagues, so to some that's an unpopular opinion because they think of JD and New Order as being very much on parr with each other despite having similar sounds..

I'm yet to meet someone who would put New Order above Joy Division, but not many think they're in different leagues. So that's why I thought it was an unpopular opinion.

I always thought that New Order was meant to be a completely different direction to Joy Division and that comparing the two was kinda pointless, as one band is not the same act as they other, despite the common members... their whole concept and musical direction were completely different.

I thought people felt about them both as being different, but just as good as each other
