Me either... I've always heard the whole Joy Division > New Order thing expressed around me... I tend to err on the side of thinking that they are too different to compare...

Oh, well.. never mind then.

I think the comparison is obvious, band changes its sound after its front man passes away, there's natural comparisons between before and after.

Oh absolutely. I'm just saying in my experience the standard verdict is that Joy Division is the better band.

I know someone who actually prefers New Order to Joy Division. I went on a massive rang at them explaining how they were wrong, and they should just sit there in their wrongness and be wrong. Your circles > Mine.

I find it incredibly hard to listen to New Order. They are a generally a highly regarded band, but knowing what they did with Ian Curtis sours them quite a bit for me. Especially the song "Ceremony". Anyone heard the demo version with Ian on vocals? THAT is who should have sung that song.
