I am sure there was some utter bull**** and crap music going on just like there is today... but the baby boomer population was the predominant productive group in society, economically and culturally, so their views tended to rule...

Now, funnily enough, I hear people talking about how "great" the eighties were and how much creativity there was going around... but ten years ago, the eighties were considered a massive joke musically speaking. But you see all those eighties kids are now grown up and starting to dominate the ideas / concepts and fashions we consume...

And now people kinda write off the nineties as terrible... I wonder what will be said in ten years time.

It's all kinda cycling like that in my opinion, and it's got alot to do with which generation has the reigns as far as generating the trends of the day.

and also truth

It's ok. I'm relatively bored by the Rolling Stones. (Relative in that I love the Beatles, Zeppelin, Doors, Cars, etc)

Yawn

There's one Beatles song that could never elicit a yawn... A Day in the Life. It's virtually two songs in one, drawn together by a large atonal crescendo of many different instruments. Fascinating to say the least
