Hahaha, because they've been sued countless times and openly admit to plagiarism.

If you're referring to the similarity between Oasis and 'How Sweet to be an Idiot' by Innes, I'm sure they claimed it was unintentional. I know from personal experience that songwriters can be influenced by something (a little too heavily sometimes) without realising it, until someone says 'Hey, that sounds a bit like [insert other song title] by [insert songwriter]', so I believe that it could well be accidental.

The Beatles won a lawsuit against them for lifting the melody of Cigarettes & Alcohol, I believe.

Also, Fucking in the Bushes was lifted from (I think) a Hendrix song. There's a slew more of them, but I don't know them off the top of my head.

Highly unlikely
The melody from Cigarettes & Alcohol comes from T-Rex's Get It On

Yeah, thanks Urban. The fact is, I watched about 10 comparison clips on youtube a few years ago, and I can't separate them in my mind now.

Excerpt from wikipedia on the matter:

Quote:

An Oasis B-Side "Step Out" was originally intended for the (What's the Story) Morning Glory? album but was taken off after Stevie Wonder requested 10% of the royalties as the chorus bore a similarity to his hit Uptight (Everything's Alright). Instead it was placed as a B-Side on their single Don't Look Back In Anger. Also, because of this, Wonder, Henry Cosby and Sylvia Moy received credit for writing the song, along with Noel Gallagher. Also the single "Whatever" was initially credited as being written by the band's lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. A subsequent lawsuit awarded a co-writing credit to Neil Innes. Oasis were also successfully sued for $500,000 by the New Seekers after the song Shakermaker took its melody from "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing". NOEL GALLAGHER has additionally openly admitted plagiarising a BURT BACHARACH hit for his B-side HALF THE WORLD AWAY. He had no qualms about revealing his pilfering of the Bacharach/HAL DAVID composed song THIS GUY'S IN LOVE WITH YOU. He says, "It sounds exactly the same. I'm surprised he hasn't sued me yet."

On the other hand, that's a pretty basic RnR melody after all. What bothers me more is their (Noel's) nonsensical lyrics woven around all those desperate Beatles citations.

Interesting, it's true there are similarities. These You Tube clips select very particular sections though; when I listened to some of those songs apparently "stolen" songs on their own, I couldn't hear what the similarity was with most of them, T-Rex's 'Get it On' aside, but then I've always known that one.

blues wanking suck, blues solos should be kept to minimum notes and simple

Examples? I am not picking a fight either just wondering what sort of artists or tracks you had in mind?
