As did Nick Drake.

But, barring the recreation of the Catch 22 record (which some members of Streetlight were actually in) everything else Streetlight did was far superior to Keasbey Nights. Although I doubt that's unpopular.
ummm who do you think you are

There is not a single band I can think of where the male lead vocalist was replaced by a female lead and it turned out better.

Maybe that's popular, I don't know. But personally, I find it immensely upsetting every time. Feel free to change my mind.

Also a lot of modern power metal is basically electronic music and should be labeled as such lest they give a bad name to good bands. You wanna make electronic music, fine, go for it, but don't try to label it as anything but.

Not to mention his music for the most part sounds like it was recorded in a shed.]

His music's basic. It sounds all muffled. He didn't play live shows. He didn't innovate or do anything new. There have been many singer songwriters since that have far surpassed him musically.
I can't see why he's held in such high regard.

My roommate loves those dudes. I don't care for what they cover, but I have to admit they're pretty ****ing great at it.

I bet you're the kind of person that doesn't think depression is a legitimate clinical disorder. Yeesh.

His guitar playing is some of the smoothest I've ever heard, I can put "Road" on repeat and listen to it completely entranced for an hour straight. It's downright eerie and I'm almost convinced he was a robot. He was also extremely experimental with guitar tunings and styles, there's no chance you could recreate Pink Moon with any sort of standard guitar tuning. I find his lyricism simple but to the point, you can tell he's not a master poet but he creates an atmosphere that his lyrics back up beautifully. The fact that he never played live shows is part of what I find so fascinating about him; he was clearly just a deeply troubled guy with a lovely, unique voice and a songwriting style that's far different from anything I've ever heard. If you know of anything that sounds like Pink Moon please let me know because I would love to hear it.

tl;dr i think he was a genius

Lil Wayne is not the worst rapper ever. In fact, he used to be good.

Gonna have to agree with Yorke on Nick Drake.

Also, I doubt many people who get coffee at Starbucks would know who Nick Drake is. Every Starbucks I've ever been to played either top 40 or mainstream 'indie'. Not that that's saying much because I've been to like two but yeah, plenty of people respect Nick for his guitar playing and tuning as well as his lyrics.

He was pretty apt at alternative tunings.

I guess it's cause you have to have heart to understand the music.

Well, a lot of people say that modern music is terrible, and then they act like older music was perfect and that there used to be no bad music. I think this is bull****. There's plenty of great music today, just like their was crap back then. If you only listen to Top 40 radio, your going to get a lot of crap. But if you actually search for good music, you will find it. I will say, I think that the '80s and '90s are the best decades for music.

^ Idk about best, but I have a thing for 60s and 70s stuff. I will say that I think the 90s had the best mainstream music. The top 40 crap was actually good back then.
