I can't browse the internet and listen to it because it's so hypnotic. I'm not sure how you feel about wu as a whole, but I would say it's not 'entry level'(another term I hate to use) for them. I don't agree but I can understand the argument that some people make that their music is boring at times, and gza is one of the less 'fun' members, but if you're a fan of the sound I don't see what would make it less appealing then say 36 chambers or supreme clientele.
That's interesting. Haunting, bleak, dark and hypnotic are not words I'd have associated with it. It's been a few years since I've heard it, but my recollection is of it being goofy in tone and flat in production style. Maybe I should give it another listen, though I also find 36 Chambers kind of dull so maybe not.

I don't know what it's from, but the album was released many years before Kill Bill so it must be something else.

Dream Theater is possibly my least favorite band, but Tool hit me in the right spot.

I could give a **** about Dream Theater, but they have their moments, whereas Tool just make almost no impression on me. I honestly can't think of a tool song that I find more than tolerable, whereas Dream Theater has this beast if nothing else...

Tool's biggest problem is that they peaked with their first big hit. They never did anything better than Sober. Plus they had a habit of taking what would have been good 4 minutes songs and dragging them on forever.

Still a great band though.

Every Tool song I've ever heard is better than that, and I'm not particularly a Tool fan.

Yeah I'd say it's less exciting than 36 chambers for sure. I just love the ambiance of it more.

wikipedia was my friend on this one:
"Several audio clips from Shogun Assassin are used on rapper GZA's classic album Liquid Swords (produced by RZA). In addition, the film is invoked in Kill Bill: Volume 2 (for which RZA provided original music) in the end scenes where the protagonist and her four-year-old daughter watch it as a bedtime story."

You don't like anything that smells of cheese. You're a snob, man.

Not true at all. I enjoy much that smells of cheese.

It's like the opposite for me. I just never was able to cling onto anything that DT did. Tool has songs like Parabola, Third Eye, Pu****, Lateralus, Rosetta Stoned, etc.

Everything up to 10000 Days is nothing short of fantastic. They are pretty consistent at releasing albums that are deep and well thought out. Their long "dragged out" songs are some of their best imo. The combination of Wings for Marie and 10000 days on that album are two of their best songs ever.
