I guess you like your coffee cold cause that is the way Mocha Joe serves it? You can't have your own opinion and think "I like my coffee hot." Cause if it's served cold and everyone likes it you gotta like it too?

Maybe sometimes you just like some cheap flavored creamer cause coffee doesn't always have to be such serious business.

I 100% agree that Yes is better than Roxy music, but I feel like Elliott Smith and Nick Drake are equally as beautiful <3 I wouldn't go that far Bat Lord

Nah, I just find it funny to see MJ get done dirty like that. Off The Wall and Thriller are legitimately good records on their own merits. They sold a lot because of timing (MTV), marketing, and a million other factors: doesn't mean they aren't good. You don't have to love Waits or anything either. Just seems petty to say they aren't "good" just because you don't want to give them any time.

It's like me and some of the punk I grew up with. There are lots of great punk records that I probably will never listen to again because I'm more interested in other genres, ideas, etc. But I don't look back at those artists and say they're "bad" because of that.

I guess you were unaware of how the press "done dirty like that" to MJ. All the allegations made against him because he (allegedly) "done dirty like that" to minors. That stuff aside, there are other reasons I don't like MJ. One of the main reasons music opinion-wise: I can't stand his voice. Take his music, everything you hear is done by producers, studio musician, etc etc. Strip that away and what's left is his voice. The shrill way his sings high notes and his squeaks. If that works for you, just remember it doesn't necessarily work for everyone else. That is why I can't listen to him. I don't like him or his music, and I don't like his singing. Sorry if I upset your applecart.

Know what's petty? Twisting words and misrepresenting what is said. So let me make this as simple as possible and read it slowly so you can understand: I don't listen to them because I don't like them. It's not the other way around.

There's music I like that I grew up with and it turns out I don't have time to revisit that stuff either. Which make also adds to my case. You don't have time to listen to you already know, and you don't have time to explore everything out there. So why bother with stuff you don't like?

I don't know what kind of Punk music you grew up with, so I can't advise you to go back and listen to it. You could have had bad taste in Punk for all we know, and you're probably doing yourself a favor by moving on. If was Green Day, just move on. You have your Yacht Rock.

You are the one who made a distinction between "good" and bad here, not me. Spare me the attitude, seeing as you put words in my mouth earlier as though "more sales = higher quality" or some other BS.

And yes, you are allowed to dislike Michael Jackson because of his voice.

I don't fundamentally disagree with anything here.

You were pouring on the attitude prettay, prettay, prettay thick with the Larry David meme.

I don't know where the equation "more sales = higher quality"comes from. I wasn't putting those words in your mouth. I was saying implicitly in the sense that if you want to understand my pov, where I'm coming from, I am not looking at album sales, I'm not relying on music critics. So I don't understand why you were so shocked that I listen to music I like and rebutting what I said with a Larry David meme.
